iowaherkeye (1364), Back in Iowa City!, Iowa, USA Jul 14, 2008 12oz bottle, no date from riversideAK, thank you sir! Clear burnt orange with a one finger off-white head that lasted a minute before fading to a ring. This isn’t terribly cold, but I’m not getting a whole helluva lot out of the aroma. That said, I’m picking up on some resiny pine and earthy caramel malts. Flavor had a bit more sweet caramel than the aroma led on. Bitterness peaked around a 3 in the semi-dry finish. Light creamy carbonation with a medium body. Pretty boring--yes, it may be an IPA, but that’s about it. morrdt (546), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Jul 9, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. Pours a nice amber/copper color with a light head. Aroma is nice with hops and some citrus notes. Taste is hoppy with a bit of malt and a little citrus/flower. This was a good beer. mansquito (568), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Jul 6, 2008 Off-white head that leaves lacing. Orange amber color. Citrusy, piny hops in the aroma. Moderate hops that stick from front to finish. Little citrusy. Medium thickness, but it lets you know that it is there. Heathen (455), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jul 6, 2008 THOUGHTS: Just a generic IPA. I’ve had better and worse. It didn’t really stand out in either direction. Not enough balance for me. The hops overpowered the malt way too much.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium orange with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was a little weak for an IPA. There was light caramel malt, pine and citrus hops (grapefruit and even more orange). The initial flavor was lightly sweet acidic and bitter; while the finish was light to moderately sweet, lightly acidic and moderate to heavily bitter with a long duration. There was a little caramel malt, orangy hops and a little grapefruit citrus hops then a little more pine with the orange and caramel. It was a little like marmalade for a second, but then it was all overpowered by bitter hops. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy then fairly dry with tingly carbonation and a metallic and moderate astringent finish. LilBeerDoctor (278), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 On tap at SPH. Pours an amber/orange with a white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma of citrus and grapefruit, with a slight hint of pine. Flavor mostly citrus with a nice malt balance. Not as powerful/flavorful as other IPAs but still quite tasty. A nice refreshing beer and worth a try.
