VeloVampire (400), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 30, 2008 12 oz bottle, courtesy of my sis and bro-in-law. Pours a slightly hazy apricot shade with a creamy beige head. Excellent lacing. Big whack o’ Pac NW hops in the nose - the ususal grapefruit, lemon, some apricot, and a small but surprising bit of mint freshness in there as well. Starts of in the mouth with a sweetness that parlays into a bitter finish, but there is also a bit of malt toastiness/breadiness in there also, as well as a bit of minty astringency. A nice slight departure from the usual U.S. IPAs, and though not one of the best, it is refreshing and highly quaffable.
mybrainhurts (181), North Dakota, USA Oct 10, 2008 Grassy, herbal hop aroma. Biscuit and grains also in the nose. Piney, bitter hop overtones and a pleasant malty sweet backbone. Hops linger after the swallow. I like this one. jkaiser (114), USA Oct 9, 2008 Not much taste with this one. It was number 24 on my beerfest track. Looking forward to try the double white ale. ucusty (1213), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 Dark amber pour with fluffy tan head. Malty aroma. Caramel flavor with some piney hops. Slipstream (392), USA Oct 6, 2008 Brass - light brown pour with a little foam and sheetlike lacing. Juicy aroma of pine/floral hops and a bit of yeast, grain, and lemon. Somewhat sharp and dry hoppy flavor - is that Cascade hops taking charge there? There is definitely a West Coast influence. This tastes more like a strong pale ale than an IPA. There is a slightly acidic, baking soda-like flavor, and it could use a bit more esters and malt. Still good, tho. brewblackhole (1239), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Sep 28, 2008 Aroma has an off aspect to it,the aroma is almost perfumey,in a flowery type of way, I have smelled this in other IPA’s most often Anchor Liberty, its almost like a fake hop aroma is added, taste is fine, hops are still flowery, plenty of bitterness, not much caramel thanks Ubeamartian
