COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Visit an Old World lager brewery and the brewmaster will insist that you enjoy a "keller" beerdirect from the aging tank. To a brewerthis is beer at its purest: unfiltered, nuanced and gently carbonated. Southampton Keller Pils is just such a brew. And each year we make it with a different hop variety to create a unique interpretation of the pilsener style. Enjoy!

12 ounce bottle from Superstar Huntington in Sam Adams lager glass. Very pale hazy golden with lasting white head and lace. Nice grassy lemon cake aroma with hint of pineapple. Mild pineapple sweetness with assertive but not astringent or overbearing grassy lemony bitter hop clean finish. Extremely clean, crisp and refreshing, without any off flavors. Excellent.

Transparent gold, thick frothy white head. Nose has dusty hay, light lemon, some nice interplay with grass. Very grassy and dry flavor, lots of dirty malt in here and only the slightest kiss of hop through the earthy grass notes. The body is thicker than expected, and there is enough carbonation to keep it afloat but never muddling the malt.

On Tap at Mr. Beery’s in Sarasota. Pours clear deep gold with white head. The aroma has spicy hops, a mild level of fresh corn and then heading into a thin layer of sweet malts at the end of the draw. The taste is similar pushing up some sharp spicy hops with floral hops around the edges and mild grainy malts and corn off in the background. Pretty refreshing brew.

Draft at redlight and fresh bottle. This pours a lightly hazy, golden yellow color topped by a smooth, off white head of foam that receds quickly to a thin film. The nose is pretty fresh showing hints of pine and floral hops, pepper spices, toasted bread malts, and some lager yeast. The flavor follows suit and is based in the yeasty, toasted bread malts and balanced perfectly by the fresh, crisp floral hops and spices that add a nice bitterness. There is also some grassy and lemon zest notes as well which enhance the clean, crispness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively carbonation that leads to a clean, peppery finish. This is a great tasting and easy drinking pils.

Growler from Whole foods. Poured a light hazy yellow amber. Nose is a bit grassy and lemony. Grassy and hoppy with a solid malt backbone. The finish has a nice bitter edge to it. Very drinkable, and very good.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2010 [Update - I tried the bottle version today for comparison, and the six packs are just as good as the draft version - it would seem that Phil has really hit his stride brewing on a larger scale] Growler from Big Z - pours a lightly hazy pale gold - soft, dry, herbal, grassy aroma - really wonderful and crisp - a bit of malt sweetness up front, followed by some light toasted graininess, but the star of the show here becomes the hops - dry, crisp, medium-bitter - malts become dry and crackery to compliment this - peppery, grassy finish - a fantastic pils.

A hyper clear straw colored body below a paper thin white head. Nose is very corn & grainy, with an acidic/citrus sting of hops (or is it floral?), light and clean smelling. A smooth, light-medium body (surprisingly), crispy clean mouthfeel and good, high carbonation. A coriander, orange peel, Lemon twang accompanies a moderately bitter finish on this classic pilsner.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of pils malts, grains, cereal, and light hops. Poured yellow in color with a tiny, white head around the edges. Slightly hazy. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is medium to heavily bitter. Tastes of pils malts, grains, grass, Saaz hops, and a hint of flowers. Light to medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Pils malt, grain, and light saaz hop finish is bitter and dry.
