pforei (338), USA Oct 21, 2007 Bottle. Lager glass. Pours a dark autumnal amber with a rich looking beige head that unfortunately dissipates quickly. The aroma has a lot of honey/brown sugar/butterscotch and cinnamon and some nutmeg spice and a slight undertoe of pumpkin. Pumpkin taste and other spices more apparent upon tasting. Finish has a small spice flare up followed by dryness and then the honey/brown sugar malt taste. Easy to drink. One of the best non-imperial pumpkin ales. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Oct 20, 2007 22oz bomber from A-1 to-go in Gardiner. Pours a nice translucent amber-red with a good inch of off-white head. Smells sweet and spicy, with cinnamon, nutmeg, etc dominating. Tastes like pumpkin and spices, finishes clean, helping the drinkability. Full body with a good amount of carbonation, but not too much. Very drinkable, one sip definitely invites another on this one. Not the best pumpkin ale I’ve had, but definitely a great one, and another impressive offering from Southampton. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Oct 17, 2007 Decent sized off-white head of medium sized bubbles. Nice pumpkin and spice aroma. Lots of soft malts and some nutmeg. Nice plesant aroma. Color is a bright amber orange. Dry palate. Lots more spices and pumpkin. Lively in the mouth and leaves a thin pasty film. More soft bready malts. Finishes dry and slightly astringent. Strange ending. A decent pumpkin brew. Chapel (329), Levittown, New York, USA Oct 16, 2007 Pours an orange copper with a thin but foamy off-white head. Aroma is cleanly wheat and yeast but nothing special. Flavor, however, is wheat up front with a strong note of pumpkin pie spice right in the mid section. Finishes clean and the pumpkin flavor stays right in the middle of your tongue. NachlamSie (1631), Tennessee, USA Oct 15, 2007 Bomber split with Tronraner, thanks! Pours a copper hue with minimal head. The aroma is tons of cinnamon. The cinnamon overshadows the pumpkin, nutmeg, and leafy aromas. Again, the flavor showcases intense cinnamon. The semi-sweetness of the beer pairs with the bombardment of cinnamon to create a striking similarity to hard candy. "Pumpkin beer" is rather misleading, this should be called "Cinnamon beer". tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Oct 15, 2007 Bomber, shared with NachlamSie. Pours copper with slight beige head. The aroma is serious cinnamon with some sweetness, and combines to make it strongly resemble those Fireball candies... if I concentrate more, I get some allspice and nutmeg, too. The flavor is some prickly carbonic notes at first, then more cinnamon. Other autumnal spices float around behind it, too, with some hints of caramel and wood. The finish is carbonic like tonic water. This doesn’t really get the pumpkin pie feel of most pumpkin beers because it focuses so heavily on the cinnamon. Not particularly impressive. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 13, 2007 Pour is a clear orange/red with a small off white head. Aroma is of ginger and cinimmon. The flavor is spicy and slightly bitter. Lively carbonation. Body is thin. jonnybravo845 (5), New Jersey, USA does not count Oct 13, 2007 medium amber color with little head. mild in flavor with hinds of nutmeg and clove. very little pumpkin flavor but still a nice choice
