jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Oct 6, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear amber body with no head and little lacing. Aroma is sweet pumkin candy. Taste is sweeter than other pumkin ales, with notes of sweet nutmeg, and cinnamon. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2009 On draft at Flat Rock Saloon. Poured clear orange with a skim of tan head. Clean and crisp. Lager-esque with a mildly spicy finish. Nutmeg, pumpkin, and a touch of cinnamon. A bit thin bodied. Fairly standard pumpkin ale. FunkyBrewster (437), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2009 Thanks 17thfloor! Pours a copper amber color with a small white head. Aroma is very spicy, cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh pumpkin pie and a nice bitter of floral hoppiness backing it up. Flavor starts with a pronounced spice bread character, again very much the traditional cinnamon and nutmeg. Kind of gets a softer in the middle as a lot of the sweet pumpkin and caramel becomes dominant. Finishes sharp and spicy again with a light grainy character that lingers behind the spice. Nice medium body and a soft fizzy carbonation. Nice easy drinking pumpkin ale that doesn’t get too heavy handed Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Oct 6, 2009 clear amber with a few very small particles, large smooth offwhite head with nice lacing.
sweet aroma like marzipan, but not *that* sweet, almonds, pumpkin, yeaty spicy base below that, like if it was belgian. the 6% alc works well in the aroma, bittering it up a little. nice.
flavor is herbal, watermelon, faint sweetish note that is a little flowery, alc bitterness. not much hops if any. sort of tasty but quite herbal. RHeastings (380), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 4, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a nice medium amber color with a small white head that quickly disappears. The nose brings what could be quantified as a more intense version of the spices found in a pumpkin pie mix. Cinnamon, hazelnut, and a bit of clove. The palate begins with those same spices up front, however, they seem to fade relatively quickly. The palate is thin, but short of being insipid. The finish is clean. There is a slight touch of malt in the mid-palate, but I think the beer would be improved by adding more of a Munich-type malt character. Overall, a nicely brewed seasonal that has all of the qualities of a good spiced beer, but lacks that extra something that is needed for greatness. CheersMate1 (770), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 1, 2009 6 pack of 12 oz. bottles picked up at Greens Liquor Store on Ponce De Leon. Very clear. Holy shit, this thing is transparent. Head fades away rather quickly. Dark copper color. Strong smell of cinnamon. I am taken back by the cinnamon flavor; it is a very pungent beer. Pumpkin and spices dominate the aroma. Wow, this beer smells pretty damn good; a very aromatic beer. Nice strong pumpkin and cinnamon spice beer. Very spicy beer. I am actually pleased with the taste of this beer. I know it seems a bit artificial, but I think this has a nice clean spice flavor. The beer doesn’t have that creamy type of texture I would hope for, but it has a decent palate. Overall, I appreciate the spices the most. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Oct 1, 2009 2009 GABF Friday. I feel compelled to rate this despite my dislike for this beer. Ugh. Perhaps this batch went bad? Vegetal, unbalanced, light on pumpkin flavor. The spices clash, like a pumpkin pie with a couple ingredients left out by accident, and plastic thrown in the fermenter. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Sep 30, 2009 Pumpkin aroma with a slight amount of vinegar. Clear orange color with a very small white airy head. Mild spicy pumpkin in the beginning that fades in the finish.
