roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2009 Pours a clear dark orange with nice amount of froathy offwhite head. Aroma is sweet pumpkin pie with cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is not over the top but rather very nice and balanced. Good sweet pumpkiny base that doesn’t dominate, some spices, and a dryer finish. Overall, pretty good. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Sep 27, 2009 12 oz. bottle here in 2009. Earthy-spicy nose with pumpkin spice but no really vegetable, and some light vanilla. Pale copper body with a quickly-fading sudsy head. Medium-full body, dry and very earthy with solid spiciness, a little nutmeg and cinnamon, and just a tad wee Biss o’ punkin. Not over-the-top with the spices, sort of a nut-brown amber down and dirty with gritty highlights. Easily one of the better of this style I’ve had, and might be the most or second-most repeatable of them all. Freakin’ delicious - great job, Phil! SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 25, 2009 12oz bottole. clear orange with no head. nutmeg, bubblegum, cinnamon aroma. the palate is light and refreshing with moderate carbonation. flavors of a mild biscuity malt with cinnamon, bubblegum, and nutmeg. i could probably drink a few of these...most pumpkin beers are good for only one or two IMO. highly quaffable. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours like a Marzen, glowing copper orange with a small fine fizzy white froth 3.5. Aroma is a bit sharp, burnt grass, weed, bitter metallic, nice pumpkin, cardamom?, lesser nutmeg and cinnamon, those hops add such a funky edge. Flavor follows exactly, hoppy grassy weed-like, followed by sweet caramel and pumpkin finishing heavily spiced but very clean, easily one of the cleanest pumpkin ales I’ve tried, long nutmeg and cinnamon finish and aftertaste. Wonderful body, medium, very crisp fine but still somewhat soft carbonation, clean. "South Hampton Pumpkin Ale is not over-the-top with spices...," well it’s pretty well spiced... This really tastes like an excellent Marzen with a touch of pumpkin and spice. If I wasn’t told this was an Ale, I would think it was a lager, it is that clean. deyholla (508), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Sep 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours an orangish amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is full of spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg with some pumpkin. A bit of a metallic taste as well as all of the notes from the aroma. Aftertaste is a bit water downed. topherh (892), Kearney, Missouri, USA Sep 21, 2009 12 oz Bottle pours coppery orange with thin white head. Aroma is pie spice. Flavor is pie spice, a little pumkin, and malt. msante79 (785), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Sep 12, 2009 12oz bottle from Lukas Liquors. Pours clear golden orange with white head. Aroma is light pumpkin and spices with some malt. Flavor is kinda of light pumpkin and spice which is not necessarily a bad thing. Pretty smooth drinker but also low on complexity. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 10, 2009 Very nice for the type, with a lot of spice and aroma, perhaps a little high in carbonation but not much, nice ale underneath. One of the best I have had this year.
