2008-08-07. Golden yellow body with a good sized off white head. (3+) Pleasant aroma, light grassy hops being the focus, very light pepper notes. (7+) Flavour is dry, light grassy hop profile, touch of peppery spice, light bitterness, muted yeasty touches. (7+) Average palate suits the beer. Pretty solid saison, enjoyable. Poured a voluptuously effervescent golden with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma of light spicy grass and cinnamon with a touch of pine. Flavor is highly complex yet light, with notes of spiciness and herbal hops, yet leaning more towards the sweet side of the balance. Very little alcohol flavor shows through. Body is light and fluffy and evanescent. Overall a very nice saison... refreshing and complex.

750 ml cork and caged bottle purchased at Spirits Red Bank. Pours a hazy nectar gold with a huge frothy bright white foamy head that lasts and lasts. Aroma is lots spice, white pepper, corriander, yeast, grass. Fuller body that is creamy and smooth on the finish. Flavor is the same as the aroma with lots of pepper and spice, grassy notes, and yeast. For someone who doesn’t care saisons that much this one was pretty darn good.

750 mL bottle. Orange golden slightly opaque pour with a large white frothy head. Aroma of barnyard and ginger spices. Taste of earth, citrus fruit and belgian yeast. Nice even slightly sweet finish.

Bottle. Pours an orange golden body with a white head. Dry spicy bitterness, faint floral hop character hints of coriander and an earth y bitterness. Nice.

This beer had a head that was huge and rocky and took forever to die down. Smell is very yeasty and estery. The taste is sweet, then drying and medicinal with some citrus and pepper. Hmm, not bad and the aspirin flavor is less detectable as it warms up. I’m not sure why this is a BA top 100 beer however. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-17-2007 01:51:44

11/27/2008: Southampton 750 Series Saison Deluxe smells like sugary fruits, yeast, and spices. It tastes sweet and yeasty with some spice and pepper. It is well-balanced with some alcohol showing. The beer itself is a deep golden yellow and is topped is a very large, pillowy head. The beer has a medium body and good mouthfeel with more heft thatn typical for a Saison, but I like that. It is strong, yet delicate and makes a great accompaniment to a Thanksgiving meal!

750 mL corked and caged bottle from River’s Bend Wine and Spirits in Maineville, Ohio! Rating #294 for this beer.
