12 oz. Bottle: Pours a transparent lighter bron color with a small white head. Aromas of sweet caramel malt. Flavor was less sweet and more sour, caramel was non-existent and replaced by sour hops. Clean finishing.

Had this written down as Southampton Altbier. Dark amber pour with a thick white head with bubbles that reminded me of pancake batter on the griddle. Flavor was watered down, very malty with little else. Did not taste particularly "fresh" like I hoped.

Reddish-copper with a short lived white swirl for a head. Aroma is syrupy malt, very sweet. There’s a little hop bite in the flavor, though it’s mainly sweet, grainy malt again. A little over carbonated while watery, it’s still tolerable. Nothing special, but it’s drinkable.

Bottled as Southampton Altbier, thanks LilBeerDoctor! Pours clear coppery amber with a lacy off-white head. Aroma of toffee, fruit, malt. Light body and full carbonation. Sweet nutty and figgy flavor with a bit of brown sugar. A somewhat floral finish (and possibly some rye) eventually catch up with the rest of that palate. Seems fairly well balanced, but some part of the equation doesn’t work so well for me. Maybe needs more body, less carbonation?

On tap at KSBF ’08 as Southampton Alt. Dark copper body with a small off-white head. Earthy, nutty with noticeable hops. Pretty good.

Pours a beige head and leaves lacing. Reddish brown clear body. Malty aroma. Like the guy before me, I wondered if the beer was fresh. Kind of sour taste. Very light hops in the middle. Kind of sweet aftertaste. Some fruitiness, but nothing distinct.
