3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brigadier (2240) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAY 20, 2012
22 ounce bottle
Lurking in the cellar I got around to opening this a few months after it first
got there. It has been a while since I checked them out but the trend seems to
be the same - the small batch recipes are great but the others range from messy
to so-so. I’d pass on this one unless you must tick every New York beeer.
Aroma / Appearance - Hazy with a lemon base the crisp white
head and spindly legs give it a decent presence. Yeast, apple cider, cotton
candy, and fresh cut greens vie for attention. Bouncing from flavor to flavor
it has no focus at all.
Flavor / Palate - Apples and cotton candy make this taste like
drinking a state fair midway. Malt carries it through to a lingering and dense
finish. Winding down it reminds me of sitting outside on a dry fall evening.
The biggest flaw is a sparkling carbonation that is way too over the top.
Otherwise this might be a solid beer.

18th August 2009 Clear gold beer. Softish dry palate Spicy lagerish malt with a little bit of repressed orange. Finishes dry and a bit spicy with some aniseed. A pretty dull tripel.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bbbeer (411) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 1, 2012
Clear golden yellow with small white head. Aroma yeast and lemon and spices. Medium body, a little carbonation, no alcohol. Flavor is yeasty and fruity and somewhat sweet and a little like bubblegum. Pleasant enough and true to style but lacks complexity and sort of thin yet syrupy at the same time.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 callmemickey (1356) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Reviewed from notes (2007).
A: Amber gold body. My glass had almost no head to it. Did the bartender hold on to it too long before bringing it over to me?
S: Lemon, yeasty, mild fruity malt sweetness. Crisp aroma.
T: Grains are upfront and balanced by a spicy yeast with a mild phenol-like finish
M: Light body with a decent amount of carbonation throughout

Bottled. Golden colour with a mediumsized white head. Turns hazy once the last drops from the bottle goes in. Aroma is citrus fruits, spices, mild candy as well as some mild earthyness. Flavour is fruity, spicy, mildly yeasty as well as sugary and mildly wooden. Pleasantly balanced.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jcr (1946) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - JUN 30, 2011
750 ml. Cloudy golden body with a fizzy white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of clove, sweet apple, citrus, lemon. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Nice, dry finish. Along the lines of a classic triple and close to being really good. But it’s a bit grainy tasting and not very complex.
