beerbill (1316), Laurel, New York, USA Aug 25, 2008 On tap at Southend Brewery. Arrived at the table a clear amber with no head. Mild aroma of malt and not much else. Flavor is mild malt up front, quickly followed by some grapefruit. There was some bread at the finish, which I liked. Light bitterness lingers for a bit after the swallow. Close to being an IPA, but not quite there. Good pale ale. gsmitty80 (534), Washington DC, USA Jun 14, 2008 The beer had a promising smell and appearance to it. The flavor however was very watery with a splash of hops. Not great by any means. cale422 (25), Timmonsville, South Carolina, USA Jun 6, 2008 A copper colored pale medium body and slight citrus hop nose. Flavor is pretty balanced between hopsd and malt. Something I do appreciate. Nice crisp clean finish. baileyuk (11), Wixom, Michigan, USA May 4, 2008 I got this at the brewery in Charleston. I originally has a sip of their spiced beer which was not good. I was a little concerned about going into this one.
Ap: A little cloudy but an overall attractive appearance. An okay head from the pour that dissapeared farily quickly. Poured a dark golden amber.
Ar: A little hoppy and fruity. The smell was rather mellow.
F: I think they may have changed this recipe or it is just a better batch than when everyone else reviewed it. It was not overly hoppy, definately not an IPA. I had no funny tastes in the beer like some others had.
P: I thought this Pale Ale was very smooth and easier to drink. Out of all the beers they had this was the only one I would actually not be dissapointed at revisiting. gotohelunc (385), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 7, 2008 Draft. Copper color, no head. Not much nose...just a bit of hops. Tasty hop bitterness and some pepper, but really thin. The taste is good enough although there’s very little there. Finishes clean. I wouldn’t rush back for this, but it’d make a good enough session beer.
