CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 21, 2007 Growler shared by kp on 1/4/07: Pours a clear copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet, earthy caramel and peat with a touch of tartness. Body starts fairly full and dark malty with a mild, light fruity presence toward a bittersweet finish. An average scotch ale with some nice authenticity. goldtwins (3740), Nesconset, New York, USA Jan 20, 2007 Growler. Poured a clear mahogany color with an off-white head. The aroma was p[eaty and buttery with some grapey notes. The flavor too had a fair amount of buttery notes. Peaty sweet and more of that taste and smell I get in most Scotch ales which I can only describe as grapey. Like concord grape. Medium bodied. General_Gao (2575), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jan 11, 2006 Draught at the Raleigh, NC brewpub. This was a special offering that isn’t in their normal rotation. Clear ruby brown color without much head. Nose is of alcohol, brown sugar, and a hint of molasses. Slightly sweet. The alcohol melts into your tongue and palate. Decent beer.
