2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 KeefOz (487) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - JUN 11, 2013
330ml stubbie. BB 14/02/2014. Poured a semi-translucent golden colour with a one-finger white foamy head that retained OK and laced OK. Moderate carbonation as seen by large bubbles forming trails. Aroma is sweet with malt and a touch of hops. Taste initially sweet followed by a mild hops bitterness. Light to medium body. Moderately long mildly bitter finish. OK.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 ALLOVATE (2142) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - JUN 11, 2013
Comes across as one very unusual Pilsener starting off with its hazy, sandy yellow body and fine conditioning. Head is little more than a limp, splash of white that manages just a little lace. Aroma of barnyard grain and granola atop a strange touch of stewed rhubarb, Shao-Xing wine, lemon-pepper and kelp. Has a rubbery note to the palate that is just a little unsettling. The aroma playing into the finish where it is bitter but wishy-washy and a tad oily. Not much length; herbal, peppery and sour. Grainy mid-palate with a touch of honey giving a restrained sweetness. Too much that is just not right with this. Hoped for more so onto the re-rate pile! (33cL, BB 10/12/13, Cellarbrations Carlisle)
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Rangi (401) - NEW ZEALAND - FEB 16, 2013
Not a bad pilsner. Some pleasant hoping in this one gives a slightly interesting edge to this beverage. Nice for a one off and something a little different.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 LesArgen (135) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 30, 2012
A lovely, fragrant aroma of banana, grain, spices, honey and a little bit of lemon. There are more hops in the mouth, but they’re a very mild grapefruit flavour with some honey, butter and plum. A pleasant offering on this warm Spring evening. Drunk from a Prince Wine Store (Essendon) squealer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 davidm (1801) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - NOV 17, 2012
Bottle from Parkhill Cellars. Very nice malty nose. Aroma of flowers, honey, and nuts. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness. Palate is oily, and highly carbonated. Yellow, with a thin head.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 barakihunter (186) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - NOV 17, 2012
Not much nose, just a touch of pine. Yellow straw colour with fast disappearing head. Taste is bitter with a mild pale malt flavour - not much though. Palate is bitter and a touch piney. Mediocre.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Jado (279) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - OCT 30, 2012
On tap at Young & Jackson’s. Clear light amber with a pillow but dissipating white head. Some light hoppy notes on the nose. Taste was fairly typical lager. Light and refreshing enough, but the promised hops were sorely missing. Was expecting moew, and was therefore disappointed in this.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Davros (1515) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 27, 2012
Pours gold/amber with a fading head.
Faint aroma. Apple juice, Ribena. Thats about it. Somewhat off-putting.
Some of the juice transfers through as a flavour, but not as prominent as in aroma. some bready malt underneath.
Carbonation is too high.
Something’s gone wrong here...
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Maris (772) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - JUL 21, 2012
From a 330ml bottle on 22/7/2012. Pours a clear pale golden yellow with a big head. Has a slight grassy aroma. Flavour wise, it has a bit of biscuity malt, some soapiness, and a moderate, slightly tangy citrus hop finish. A drinkable but fairly unremarkable pils.
