COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mrs. Claws is a naughty little barleywine crafted in a classic English style with a dark wheat and flaked oat element to give her a perfect body. Don’t be fooled by her smooth, balanced approach for she is quite complex. She can be quite dangerous and will catch you by surprise if you’re not careful; but if you treat her right, she will welcome you home and keep you warm all night.

On draught at Bailey’s Taproom. 2010 vintage. Pleasing metallic aroma, but upon tasting, there is a hint of apple juice. Nice barleywine overall.

On tap at Bailey’s Taproom. Colour... Cloudy golden amber with a thin head. Nose...spent grain, booze and dried fruit. Palate...moderate froth, booze, boiled sweets, a bitter sweetness follows with Turkish delight, brown sugar and a hop resin aspect on the finish. This was a 2010 and did not detect any oxidation.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours dark copper with a yellow/beige head. Brown sugar aroma. int of resin. Full bodied. Sweet caramel flavor, not so much brown sugar, with heat you don’t notice til you try to find it. Hop still seems resin. Finishes sippin sweet, but far from cloyin.

Tap at HAF. Burnished copper penny pour with a mild bisque head. Smelled of caramel, light citrus hops, vanilla. Very sweet tasting, with caramel and vanilla notes being most prominent and with a mild citrus hop hit. Decent barleywine, well balanced if not the most flavorful example I’ve ever had.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2010 Tap @ Holiday Ale Fest... Poured amber/copper with a bubbly white head. Very, very sweet. Nice hop profile on the nose, but not so much in the flavor. Caramel, vanilla and lots of malts.
