3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
For an amber, this leans quite a bit toward the hoppy side. Not a bad thing. Creamy mouthfeel, soft airy head, dark copper body. aroma outshines taste, sweet like honey, taste comes in hoppy and resinous. Lots going on here

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This was one of two 22-oz bottles purchased in Ashland, Oregon at the Market of Choice. A bottle went to Strykzone and we shared it on Facebook Chat. Poured a rich clear amber color with a big beige head with excellent retention. Good lacing rings. Nose of rich caramel malts and floral and citrus hops. Medium plus body and a smooth creamy mouth feel. The flavor greets you with rich malts and a blast of citrus. As you progress the hops and malts balance nicely. The finish is bitter and shows citrus. Overall a delectable brew with lots of flavor that drinks easily.

From a 22 oz bottle this poured a clear gold with fat white head and good lacing. Nose of caramel malts with some citrus and floral hops. Medium body and mouthfeel. Flavor is more malts than hops, but there is still good balance. Long bitter finish make for a high quality amber. They nailed this one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. He was in Idaho. Mid amber and clear with a big fluffy and rocky head that is beige. Big chunks of lacing. A rich sweet malty aroma also has citrus and floral. Firt sip is grapefruit bitterness so is citrus. The next sip is much more malty with the Irish malts out front of those hops. And the next brings floral notes. This beer blends three styles: an Irish Red, an American IPA, and an English Bitter. It does that nicely, too. I like how the flavors meander in and out of those styles. The feel is plus and that might be partly due to the foam that never left. The malts are biscuit, cracker, and bready. In the end this was nicely balanced managing to avoid the extremes. Red ales are never a favorite of mine but I do like this one. Nicely done.

10-Apr-10 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 30-Dec-09 for $4.71 at liquidsolutions.net)
Working my way through the beers from this brewery, Woodshed Red is the first decent beer Iíve come across. Itís caramely and somewhat sweet on the palate, but the sweetness is not sugary or overbearing, and the beer is actually on the dry side. Hops are mildly bitter but have enough presence to balance the malty base with flavors of tea, pine and grass. There is, however, a slight tartness in the background from entry to finish, and while this is distracting in the initial sips, you donít even notice it after awhile. Medium in body with ample carbonation and a dry finish. The nose balances aromas of toasty and earthy malts with grassy and tea-like hops. Deep amber in color with a hint of haziness, and the off-white head builds to half an inch on the pour before settling to a wide ring and patchy cover. Easily the most drinkable and enjoyable of the ones Iíve tried so far.

Its alright, not amazing but alright. Darker than I want it to be. Drank it with half a bottle of Southern Comfort so it worked out.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bomber bottle pours a dirty amber color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and citrus with some earthy notes. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness beneath a rich citrus and earthy hop bitterness. Nicely balanced flavors with a medium body and generous carbonation leaving pleasant sensations on the palate. A very well done amber that is worthy of a sampling or two. Tasty.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22. Pours murky, somewhat grainy dark brown. Loose string of off-white fish eyes around the top. Light drippy lace. Caramel and brown bread nose, showing a little bit of gingerbread as well. Creamy medium body with a bit of carb. Toasty caramel mid palate with a bit of the brown bread and a surprisingly roasty element. Big iced tea finish. Gets a bit sharply acetic near the end with the iced tea and the roast. Admirable effort to keep it from being just another wet little amber, but this oneís a bit too far the other way and out of balance as a result.
