Pours almost black with a thin khaki head. Pretty fizzy for a porter with a chocolatey aroma. Dry, toasty flavor without a remarkable palate. Very average and drinkable- not worth coming back to.

On tap @ Southern Pacific. Black pour with a khaki head. Roasted malts, cocoa powder, and lots of coffee. A hint of ash and dark fruit. Light toasted malt sweetness. Nice bitterness to the flavor. Lots of roast, coffee, and dark chocolate. A bit of ash, coffee grounds, and dark fruit. Subtle sweetness of toast and bread.

Dark brown/black. A good aroma with notes both of hops and smoke, a very West Coast porter. Moderately good body, placing it average to above-average on the richness scale--some porters definitely distinct from stouts and others not so much. On tap at brewpub.

On tap at the brewery. It pours very dark brown with a khaki head. The aroma is very chocolaty with some toast and coffee. The flavor is very dry and roasty with coffee, burnt toast and a soda pop mouthfeel. A little too fizzy, but decent flavor. A pretty standard porter.

On tap at brewery. Black with a creamy tan head. Sweet roasted grain and light coffee and chocolate aroma and taste with roasted grain notes to the unfortunately watery finish and too thin palate. Iím sensing a trend here.

On tap at Southern Pacific poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of ropastiness, bitter chocolate, mocha and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, bitter choolate and coffee with a crisp dry lingering roasty finish.

When I visited this nice brewery, I sampled their Wit, Extra IPA, and this. All are good, but this was my favorite to drink. It has a very pronounced combination of chocolate, coffee, and toastiness. Itís rounded out nicely by having enough citrus and bitterness. I wouldnít mind trying this kind of brew as a specialty -- barrel aged, etc. I wondered if it could be less bitter, more sweet.
