Wow!!! I lucked into this bottle and wish i could find more. 16.9oz bottle pours dark murky brown with a small beige head with great lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Taste like candy made of bourbon, chocolate and hints of vanilla to smooth out the bourbon. I could drink this beer everyday for dessert it’s not to rich but prefect before bed beer. Great job Southern Star!!!!

Magnificent beer! This is Southern Star's Buried Hatchet Stout aged in bourbon barrels and results in a sweet stout beer with hints of bourbon and chocolate. Delicious! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours clear ruby black, small tan head, creamy, dissipates fairly quickly, nice lacing. Aroma is pretty vanilla forward, candy, milk chocolate, caramel. Flavor is sweet, actually less so than I expected from the aroma, vanilla, chocolate, english toffee, Worthers, bourbon. Light bitterness as well. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. A desert beer with a lingering bourbon finish.

Opened with little carbonation. Pours with very thin head and medium/dark brown pour with light brown highlights at the edge. Gingerbread and prunes in the nose. Strong prune taste and light mouthfeel with acidic finish.

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a dark brown with small paper thin beige head that diminishes to nothing. Aroma is chocolate, roast, wood. Thin mouthfeel with nice roast, dark chocolate, light bourbon, very good.

Poured a deep black with little head. Faint nose of liquor. Mild in the mouth and alcohol well hidden.

Nice, subdued BA stout. Very mellow, laid-back flavor profile. I like the fact that the bourbon infuses the stout thoroughly, but is also laid back, not overtaking the beer. Not boozy at all.

This smells great and is slightly sweet and very smooth. I had the Buried Hatchet Nitro first and it was delicious. This is even better.

1 pint 0.9 oz bottle. Poured a beautiful unfiltered dark brown with a thin cream top. Taste of vanallia esters, bourbon, oak, roasted and toasted malts, chocolate, and dark fruit. Low carbonation, medium-thick body. Very complex. This is good crack

A nose of chocolate/coco, roastiness, and vanilla preclude a thick black pour with a thin khaki head which produces spotty laciing. The palate is rich with roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruit, and hints of vanilla. Just the righ amount of bitter hops comes in on the finish providing a bit of burn. Nice. Full thick body and medium carbonation. Oily, slick mouthfeel. Overall, an extremely tasty andenjoyable beer. Glad I got two bottles!
