COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You hold in your hand a stout for stout lovers. Buried Hatchet is brewed with a large quantity of brown malt reminiscent of a traditional pre-Industrial Revolution malt profile. This stout is full of robust, roasted flavors which intermingle with a bittersweet creaminess that concludes to a perfect, warming finish.

Can picked up from total wine jax, dark motor oil pour, slim khaki head. Strong espresso, bittered chocolate, light black licorice. Full body, high viscosity, major boost.

Poured from a can. Thick, dark brown body with a light foamy brown head. The aroma is...stouty, I suppose. The flavor is bittersweet, and leaves something to be desired. There's something off I can't quite put my finger on. Not bad, but not a work of genius either.

Draft. Dark brown color, beige head. Aroma has coffee, cocoa, vanilla. Taste is bittersweet cocoa, burnt toast. Decent.

Canned. Pours a pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma is lots of roasted malts and chocolate. Little bit of coffee. Flavor is similar. Roasted malts and chocolate dominate. Coffee bitterness in the finish. Body is a LITTLE weak for such a strong Stout. But overall very nice. No booziness at all for such a strong Stout.

Road beer - can straight to the dome. I would imagine this would look deep brown, hopefully it would have a good head too. Roasty, somewhat earthy, some caramel, lightly grassy, light cocoa and doughy aroma. Taste is light chocolate, some coffee, heavy brown sugar, earthy, kind of twangy and a weird toasted bread note that seems to linger. Medium body with high carboantion. Run of the mill.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2015 Jet black pour with a tan head. Malty, roasted notes, dark chocolate, coffee, burnt sugar. Good on nitro. Update from can: mouthfeel is really creamy, head is white (I prefer dark tan with stouts) but the aroma and taste is amazing.

We’ve been buying half barrels of this fabulous stout (at the same price I might add) every 3 months for 4 years now! No ... we’re not a commercial enterprise, it’s just us 2, at home with our friends, loving the smooth bready satisfying completeness of this outstanding stout. It’s a terrific end of the workday treat and a weekend "get relaxed" brew! We’ve tried so many stouts over the years I can’t count them and BH outshines them all!! Our opinion of course. If you like stouts, give this a try, you’ll undoubtedly fall in love like we did! Thank you SS!!!!

Can from a trade split 2 ways. Fridge is 44F in stemware. here. dark chocolate, 2 finger head, light and easy to see through in the light. Nose is bursting with chocolate and some cedar chips / mulch. Taste is roasty, creamy mouthfeel, some pistachio and walnuts and wood with a chocolatey finish. not terrible.
