COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You hold in your hand a stout for stout lovers. Buried Hatchet is brewed with a large quantity of brown malt reminiscent of a traditional pre-Industrial Revolution malt profile. This stout is full of robust, roasted flavors which intermingle with a bittersweet creaminess that concludes to a perfect, warming finish.

This was the Nitro version, which really made it good. Roasted malt, coffee and some sweetness on the nose. Very dark with light creamy head. Very creamy and heavy. Low carbonation, which was expected. This added to the smooth character. High roasted malts, coffee, almost burnt but not in a bad way. I liked this better than the canned version. It also hid the alcohol better.

This beer is smooth and doesn’t have the bitterness that some stouts have. I was very pleasantly surprised by the richness of it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The best stout I have ever had... Not too heavy with lots of coffee and chocolate notes without the benifit of either one.

Had at the Great Arkansas Beer Festival 2014. Pours dark brown/black with a thin tan head. Aroma is roast and coffee. Flavor follows. Very smooth. Nice drinking beer.

Thanks to crajun for this one! Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma of roast malt, coffee, chocolate. The flavor has coffee, some bitterness from dark roasted malts but overall neither sweet nor bitter dominates. Smooth with some dryness in the finish. Nice.

Pours a very dark brown with tan head. Cocoa, roasted malt, and some caramel malts on the nose; follows onto the palate. Really just an average stout, nothing special here.

12 oz. can from Greenville Beer Exchange, Greenville, SC. Dark brown cola-like pour with a creamy khaki head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted nuts, and coffee. Smooth, slightly bitter taste of dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, and faint floral hops. Velvety mouthfeel. Nice beer! (Replaces an earlier review from GABF 2009)

Nitro draft pour at HandleBar in Austin. Pours a darkest caramel brown with a khaki head that won't die, as expected with nitro. Aromas are malt, coffee, faint chocolate, caramel. Flavor is roasted coffee beans, malt, and some chocolate milk. Smooth palate but lacking a definitive personality. Smooth drinking with a creamy mouthfeel, likely from the nitro. The 8.3% ABV is well hidden. Good stout, mild and accessible. I'd like to try it on regular tap for a more accurate review.
