COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You hold in your hand a stout for stout lovers. Buried Hatchet is brewed with a large quantity of brown malt reminiscent of a traditional pre-Industrial Revolution malt profile. This stout is full of robust, roasted flavors which intermingle with a bittersweet creaminess that concludes to a perfect, warming finish.

Let me start by saying that it's not all a bad beer. Pretty good flavor, had it been a brown ale. Guess I'm a stout snob, but this is just flimsy for the style. Smells tinny. Weak mouthfeel. It's tasty. It's brown. It's in a can. I could drink this by the 6 pack. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Black Star Co-Op Brewpub, Austin, TX, 26.4.2016. Clear dark red-brown. Roasty aroma - roasted nut. Nutty taste, very roasty, mild bitterness. Medium body, roasty, a little dry and malty-bitter finish.

Dark dark dark with a thin light beige head. Bitter coffee aroma, some earthiness. A very slick mouthfeel...coffee, cocoa powder, dark cherry notes. Pretty good.

12 ounce can - $3.49 at Total Wine & More in Greenville, South Carolina. Appearance: Dispensed a deep, black body with half an inch of mocha-toned foam. Smell: Boldly chocolaty aromatics atop a blunted roasted character with touches of scorched heavy cream, candied caramels, molasses and a vein of dark fruitiness. Taste: As with the aroma, very heavy and forward on the chocolate backed by a decided creaminess. Fairly sweet akin to melty ice cream. A little touch of dark fruitiness within. A roastiness is present but rather restrained. Warming alcohol. Lightly roasty, heavily chocolaty finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Charmingly smooth mouthfeel. Overall: Terrifically wonderful.

APPEARANCE- Pours very black with a great head with fine foam. NOSE- Incan smell the deep roasty notes right away. FLAVOR- great touch of bitter flavor immediately followed with a strong roasty finish that stays on my palate for quite a while. Extremely nice balance.

Pours a cloudy dark caramel color with a short-lived khaki head. Dark malt and cream on the nose. Nice balance among the creaminess, the the dark fruit, the dark malt, and the coffee. Extraordinarily drinkable impy stout.

Can. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate syrup, caramel, roasted nuts), with notes of vanilla, candy sugar, and marshmallow. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. A very candyish example...lots of caramel and chocolate syrup, very little roast. Not unpleasant but definitely geared towards folks with a sweet tooth.
