COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You hold in your hand a stout for stout lovers. Buried Hatchet is brewed with a large quantity of brown malt reminiscent of a traditional pre-Industrial Revolution malt profile. This stout is full of robust, roasted flavors which intermingle with a bittersweet creaminess that concludes to a perfect, warming finish.

Bittersweet creaminess. Black beer with amber edges. Thin off white head. Drinking from can gives some astrigent-ness that disappears in a glass but so does some character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: medium dark brown, with clear caramel colored edges and a nitro head and lacing that was thick and off-white. Aroma: nitro-suppressed nose was on the light side, with some chocolate, chicory coffee, slightly singed caramel. Taste: dark chocolate, vanilla, hint of charred wood, caramel, toffee, hint of pine and coffee. Finish: typically abrupt nitro finish, with just a bit of lingering general roast. Notes: Nitro draught at the Hoppy Monk in El Paso, Texas. Pretty enjoyable stout--decent enough. Palate was surprisingly light for an 8.25% abv beer, and the abv was well-hidden. Wondering if this may be one of those beers that’s better not on nitro. Seemed...toned down. Paired well with the sliders.

Poured at 60 degrees. Smells malty with very light smoke. Tastes of light hints of coffee, smoke and finishes with bitter chocolate.

Very very thin watery bodied stout, nose & palate initial coffee leading to chestnut, reminiscent of a nuttier and thinner ugly pug. Not especially enjoyable.

Not a lot of aroma, but faint coffee smell. Pours a very dark brown with small tan head. Medium bodied with slick mouthfeel. Taste is roasted malts and caramel with coffee overtones and chocolate undertones. Low carbonation. This is a very delicious stout.

Can to glass. Pours a dark, coffee like color with nice khaki head. Aroma is coffee and toffee malts, hints of chocolate. Taste is smooth, nice mix of milk chocolate and dark roasted coffee. Hints of toffee sweetness and faint smoke. Palate is smooth, a bit of alcohol warmth. Good stout!

This brew ladies and gentlemen, is what made me a stout lover! balanced and purportionate in every way. the nose could suggests a bit more pine than so. pours a dark brown with a nice ring-y lacing. palate is piney with big caramel and little clove. overall a very well brewed/executed brew. officially a stout lover. can probably tell by my first few reviews. cheers!!

12oz can from Total Wine in Greenville, S.C. Zizzybalubba picked this one up for me on his latest Asheville excursion. Dark brown/black hue, zero visibility with mostly lasting creamy khaki head. Virtually no lacing. Coffee, milk chocolate and dark malt aromas. Bitter creamy milk chocolate taste up front with the same light finish, but with more malt taste on the end as it warmed. Oily texture on the palate. It had to cool off a bit before I wanted to drink this. Damn good stout!!

probably my favorite new beer from Canfest 2014 - a stout mix of roasted coffee and chocolate, with light hops and toffee. Slick, medium to full feel with a lingering roasty finish
