4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 DerBiermeister (586) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - APR 2, 2011I really like the creamy quality this brew has to it, as well as its nutty caramel kind of flavour. It’s better sold colder (thought I would have expected more room temperature) - but not too cold I’m sure.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Can: Burnt caramel in color, not too dark for a stout. Thin to moderate sudsy light beige head, spotty lacing. Strong sweet roasty nose. Very smooth on the tongue, very roasty, coffee beans, and also a nice
sweetness. This is not a hop oriented Stout at all. I almost would say Coffee Stout because it seems to have so much coffee flavor. Moderate to full body and mouthfeel. Seems somewhat rich. Strong lactose
and coffee like sweetness on the finish. Very nice, and unexpected!
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Patrickctenchi (1700) - columbus, Indiana, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Can:
Pours deep brown with a thick, light brown head.
Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, malt.
Flavour is heavy, dark chocolate and coffee...bordering on vinous....
vanilla cream.
A little smoky.
Very robust.
Extremely good.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 1stRndDraught (10) - Birmingham, USA - APR 30, 2013
Oh man, what a craft! This stout is hands down in the top three stouts out there. Not for the rookie beer drinker, nor for those that prefer the lighter side of beer. However, even the ale drinker or the novice can appreciate this one. Rather pricey ($11.99 a 4 pack most places), but well worth it!
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 RABinVA (692) - Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA - APR 14, 2013
Can. Pours like bubbly cola. Moderate lacing. Aroma of plain roast. Taste is sticky sweet vanilla. Feels like drinking a flat vanilla Coke.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 lawman834 (171) - Georgia, USA - APR 8, 2013
Sampled at the Texas Craft Brew fest, my score is based off of some incoherent notes and a 2 oz sample.
This one stood out though. Coffee, Chocolate, Malt. Very, Very good. Highlight of the fest for me.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerGolem (501) - Quebec, CANADA - MAR 19, 2013
Rafraichissante.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tom10101 (1058) - Quebec, CANADA - MAR 18, 2013
Can. From Daniel, thanks! Black with a medium creamy beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of chocolate and coffee (like BeerGolem said to me, it’s pretty much the same aroma than a Coffee Crisp bar). Taste is moderately sweet with chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Slight bitterness. Alcohol is completely hidden. Medium body. Slightly dry. Very good Stout. Drinkable.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sammy (7041) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 17, 2013
Can from Steve in Texas. Appearance of a good cup of coffee. Chocolate malt, chocolate milk aroma. Very smooth though not thick. Tasty stuff, cold pressed coffee, nicely roasted, some chocolate. Very drinkable. Lace trail is left.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 kevinator (325) - The Colony, Texas, USA - MAR 8, 2013
This was the Nitro version, which really made it good. Roasted malt, coffee and some sweetness on the nose. Very dark with light creamy head. Very creamy and heavy. Low carbonation, which was expected. This added to the smooth character. High roasted malts, coffee, almost burnt but not in a bad way. I liked this better than the canned version. It also hid the alcohol better.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JStax (1673) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - MAR 4, 2013
Poured from a 12 ounce can. Pours a dark, cloudy brown with a creamy head of beige foam. Aroma has definitive roasty character with some burnt browny coming through. Tastes on the sweet roasty side. A dry bitterness comes through at the very end. Its a little thin in body. Solid stout, though. It could just use a little help in the mouthfeel department.
