3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From way back in my backlog. Tap at Strangeways. The look is dark, black in color, tan head. The smell is a ton of wood, chocolate, malt, alcohol, vanilla, and oak. The taste is more subdued cocoa, chalky, alcohol, wood, wood, wood, and ok. Thinner carb and too much wood overall.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Thick black with a off white head. Subtle aroma. Smooth, rich taste with a slight boozy aftertaste. Silky, but a little thin, mouthfeel. Overall, excellent.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Draught) cloudy brown with fine tan bubbles. Nose is very heavy of oak, cola, vanilla, dr pepper and chocolate. Taste of heavy French oak tannins, chocolate, bitter oils of wood, slick palate finish, boring and disappointing. The original is a better beer, but I’m glad they experimented with this.
