3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer pours medium brown with a fluffy light brown head. Smells of biscuit and nuts a nice malty smell. Taste very similar to the smell, pretty nutty and carmel with slight burt chocolate after taste. Overall this is a good beer that is pretty light in body and 7.2% abv is hidden very well. I could see myself drinking all four beers very quick.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml. bottle. Per the label 1 pint 15.4 FL. OZ. Per the bottle 750 ml. 6.9% ABV per the label. Pours a medium, well retained, dark ivory head, with Belgian lacing, over an initially clear, later hazy and particle laden, dark amber (SRM 17) body......nose is rich malts, with plum, raisin, hints brown sugar, light molasses, minimal hops balance to the malts......taste is very slightly sweet, with hints of plum, raisin, light nuttiness, finishing with a moderately sharp hop bitterness......mouth feel, medium body, sticky, alcohol hidden. This misses the mark somewhat. It is a bit too hop forward, and could use a bit more sweetness and malt depth. The aroma was the best attribute, with the taste missing somewhat with hop dominance on the finish. Per the breweries web site, this year the beer will be available on tap only, so this is last years rendition. Perhaps it is a bit too old. BJCP 7/212/4/6

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours murky redish brown. Big fluffy tan head. Head dissipates slowly. Smells of roasted malts with a little caramel. Slightly musty. Taste is mild caramel and toffee nuttyness. There is a slightly metalic taste. Mellow and medium bodied. Unique old ale. Not bad flavor but the metal taste is slightly off putting.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a brown color with off-white head. Some spice and malt on the nose, a little fruit as well; follows onto the palate. Not digging this one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
An interesting beer. Pours a murky caramel color with a low tan head the dissipates within 5 mins. A lot of sediment in the glass. Good lacing and retention. Aroma is earthy, woodsy with damp basement and oxidation. Complex and slightly off-putting because of the oxidation. Taste is fruity with light caramel. Would guess that the hops are "Fuggles and lots of them to give beer such an earthy bitterness. A slightly metallic finish. Mouthfeel is watery and soft. An interesting beer. It seems to be a good representative of the historic British Old Ale.

Thick body, moderate carbonation. Heavy yeasts present. Overall not a bad old ale. Finish is earth and spice...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Jacksonville, Fl - Grassroots Natural Market - 12 oz can. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange to brown with a tight off-white colored head. Aroma has some dates, prunes and molasses. Flavor has a slight funk to it, reminiscent of ripening fruit. Redeems itself somewhat with some sweet molasses, brown sugar and dates- but just does not have that warming quality that I look for in an old ale. Mouthfeel is a tad thin for the style. Approaching decent.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours cloudy amber-brown with substantial yeast presence and a small white head. Aroma is leather and heavy malts. Taste is sweet molasses, carob, and malts malts malts. The malts become the star at the finish. Definitely an "English style" old ale that should be drunk in the dusty old manor with a dusty old book.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz can. Pours a heavily clouded deep amber with TONS of floaties. Aromas of cigarette butts, tobacco, worn leather. Nice. Taste is perhaps the best example of cigarette butts I’ve ever had. Very resinous tobacco (although not smoked), like if you were eating a cigarette. A hint of spice. Nice carbonation. Finishes semi-sweet with a lasting tobacco note. Very damn good.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can:   Deep dark caramel, thin foamy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Super strong whole wheat brady
aroma.   Also nutty, and a touch of Starburst like candyish fruity notes.   Odd...   Heavy breadiness, whole
wheat, a little nutty, some pale roast perhaps, but not as fruity as the nose hinted (ever so slightly).   Needs more
sweetness is the first thing to cross my mind.   Very bready without being too sweet, meh...   Body and mouthfeel
are moderate.   Similar finish, but perhaps with a bit of grape popcicle stick mixed in.   Interesting nose, but
didn’t pan out on the tongue.   Thanks Bill!
