Can. Thanks to MaltOMeal for including this as an extra. Pours dark copper color with a huge white head that has great retention and lacing. Smell is strong malts with some piney hops underneath. Definitely more malty than hoppy though it’s a good type of malt. Reminds me somewhat of Dale’s. Taste is smooth, slightly bitter, grainy with some biscuit notes and subtle hop flavor. Very easy drinking. I really like canned beers for some reason and this is one of the better ones I’ve had. An excellent Pale Ale.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2009 Beautiful medium amber color with a slight reddish tint; beige colored head is thick and frothy. Aroma is of caramel, pine, oranges, and fresh hops with a malty accent. Flavor is light and malty with a hint of tropical fruits (pineapple and papaya), grapefruit, grass, and a bitter hop bite. Beautifully balanced.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2008 Wow...only 64 ratings...Great appearance, ruby copper with a light tan head (thick). Aroma is hops, barley and malts. Very pleasant, nicely balanced. Flavor isn’t all there, a little weak in malts and hops. Has a thin body with a nice bitter end. Starts off great...flavor disappoints slightly but definitely a good brew. 65 ratings now :)

Pours with a large, off-white rocky head covering a clear amber body. Great lacing and full retention. Aroma of citrus hops and tangy toffee malts. Taste is malty with a light citrus and floral hop backbone. Creamy mouthfeel. Great Texas beer.

16 oz can from Kaggie; Can’t find a batch number! lightly hazy copper-orange with a big beige head that leaves rings on the glass; Nose of piney hops, caramel, a peachy note with a tiny vanilla undertone; flavor is a light bitterness, caramel, light fruits, and some grapefruit; finish lightly bitter. Now I need to get ahold of a case!

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
16 ounce can from Spec’s in Austin. Pours orange-amber with 1-2 -finger head. Aroma of malt, pine, fruit, hops - the aromatic characters remind me very much of Great Divide Titan IPA, but in a pale ale style (slighly less hoppy, leans more to the malt side in the proportion of malt vs. hops). Moderate carbonation. Taste of slight roasted/sweet malt balanced by citrus-ish hops, but has a bit of a watery finish. From earlier reviews, it looks like I tasted batch #3. Very drinkable, would be even better if it weren’t for the watery finish.
BTW, this should be obvious, but do not drink this straight from the can or you will lose 2/3 of its flavor... for most beers that come in cans these days, a loss of 2/3 of the flavor is usually a *benefit* of the packaging, but this one’s an exception :)
