3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
At Scardello. Golden, hazy, minimal white head. Powerful smoky aroma. Like a pils, but with a barbecue kick.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Scardello tasting from the classic German styled bottle. Murky light brown color with little carbonation. Light barbecue aroma with some sweetness. Smoke forward in the flavor but some maltiness too. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: cloudy medium gold, with half a finger of creamy white head. Aroma: big nose of candied bacon, burning bamboo, wheat thins. Taste: surprisingly bright, with threads of smoke weaving firmly through the undertone of crackery pils malts, grass, and white pepper. Finish: crisp and (of course) smoky, with a great toasty white bread note. Notes: Very interesting rauchbier. Never had a smoked pils before, and the smoky notes well-supported that flavor profile here. Surprisingly well done. Bottle from Buddy’s Beer Barn in El Paso, Texas.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was a bold rauch bier. Great aroma, looks good. Taste was a bit thin, with a bit of a sharp bite, with a too-light finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Sweet honeyed bacon and smoke. Cloudy gold with a frothy white head. Very carbonated smoke and a little sweet bacon. The carbonation and intense flavors with a light finish make it a little different. Refreshing Rauch? Not sure but not bad.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - hazy gold - not much of a head - nose is a nice showcase for the beechwood smoke - its rich earthiness is not interfered with by abundant hopping or other character - some malt sweetness just serves as a subtle counterpoint to the dry, woody smoke - flavor is not heavy on the smoke, but you wouldn’t want it to be in such a light lager, as it would become to harsh/abrasive - fairly dry, with a light mineral bite that makes the moderate smoke pop a bit more on the palate - finish brings mild honey sweetness to round things out - lovely blonde rauchbier.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Poured from a 1 Pint, 1 FL.OZ bottle. The color is dark gold with medium white head that dissipates quickly , I smell lots of malt and smoke (which I like). I taste all the same with a sweetness in the finish, nice beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Spec’s, Houston 50cl: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is mostly BBQ, smoky malts, and some meat. Taste is pretty much the same. This is a simple, perhaps even one-dimensional rauchbier, but I think it is very well put together for what it is.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
I didn’t pour this, I just drank from the pint bottle. First smell like Heineken and Miller High life were mixed together. The first taste was fairly astringent tasting, almost like a Listerine knock off, but did reminded me of BBQ I’ve had before. Another sniff gave me some faint cat pee / piney smell. After couple more sips and reading reviews, makes me wonder if they smoked this in Oak. I’m not partial to the smell of burning oak. It’s like if they made a liquid smoke of Oak and dropped in the brew.
Another note, I did notes some floating particles in the bear. But I don’t thing that added or subtracted anything, since it wasn’t all that much.
Overall, strange tasting, but drinkable, not horrible, but wouldn’t probably go out an purchase again.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Dirty orangish straw, hazy, little to no head, nor lacing.   Smoked aroma, a little meaty, and what I like is no real Band-Aid.   Very subtle on the tongue, comes on quickly but falls off even faster.   A little mealy on the exit.   Feels a bit thin, bordering on thin I should say.   Very light smoke lingers after the finish.   Smells good, but is very soft (too soft) on the tongue.   Seems fairly clean tho.   Thanks Bill!
