12 oz can into a pint glass. Thanks for this one gtermi!
A - Pours a dark and hazy amber color with floating bits of hops and yeast. Two finger creamy white head with soapy and sticky lacing and retention. Iím a sucker for unfiltered IPAís!
S - Caramel malts, piney hops, bitter grapefruit, and some dank resin.
T - Nice blend of caramel malts and dank hops. Light grapefruit and pine. Bitterness is low but pleasant. A bit malt forward but rather tasty. Mouth feel is creamy and slick. Iím actually a bit surprised by the 10% abv, its not even noticeable.
O - Seeing as the first review is from mid-August Iíd say this one has a bit of age on it. Even in its current state its drinking really well. Plenty of caramel malt and grapefruit/dank hops. Alcohol extremely in check. Really nice.

Have only had... maybe 28 of these, so not sure that that 5.25 gallons is a good enough serving sample. Best or favorite IIPA? Not exactly, but damn decent. Perhaps a tad abrasive, but maybe just aggressive and I sure will be sad when these disappear and notice that I buy at least one 4pk if not more every time I see one whether my fridge is crammed with beer or not.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2013 Pliny-esque. This iipa is resinous with a piney hop presence. Not much citrus but a nice mouthfeel, nice orange brown color, thick lacing and clean aftertaste. Strong beer from an up-and-coming brewer

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma has some big double IPA notes, with a lot of resinous pine and orange citrus notes. I also get a hint of biscuit malt. The flavor is more of the same. The caramel malt keeps the bitterness from being too high, but what really comes through are some dank, resinous pine and orange citrus. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Good strong IPA. Not sure of the alcohol, but since there was none of the burn, whatever was there was hidden. I love double IPAs and had two of these.

(12oz can)Received from Hopper thanks man. First from Southern Star and very impressed. Orange body with dense head that last. Aroma spruce, pine. Taste resinous pine, grapefruit that has a slight caramel note. Bitterness sits on palate awaiting another revisit. Fine IIPA.

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours amber. Nose is full of pine and spruce. One sip is all it takes. This is a surprisingly excellent offering from Southern Star. Full of pine, grapefruit, resin, and some caramel malt, but not too much. Clean and pure all the way to the long bitter finish. Nothing crazy or weird going on here -- just a solid, complete, pure IIPA that in fact reminds me of the West Coast standard, Pliny the Elder. Yep, itís that good, and itís made in Texas.
