3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Excited for #100!.....
This one pours an enticing copper/orange with just a hint of haze.
Plentiful pine aroma, with hints of bubblegum, lemon zest and alcohol soaked fruit.
The taste is pretty potent, with a wallop of heavy hops on the front end that pretty much stays around till the next drink. Not much in the way variation, this is all IPA....
The palate was more sticky and a bit more soapy than I prefer, but still drinkable. Washes down a bit slow, could have had a bit more carbonation.
At 9.2% abv, you certainly feel it by the end of the bottle!
Well, the first 100 ratings have been a pleasure....I have found that there is not a beer I dislike, just some I like more than others!
I find it hard to believe it took me so long to discover all the choices of great beer out there....the craft brew market is incredible right now.
Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy a good, cold Budweiser after mowing the lawn, but sometimes you just need something with more of a spectrum of flavors, hops and body.
Prosit my friends!
Beer, it’s the best damn drink in the world.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours with a hazy gold color and medium white head and a slightly sweet fruity aroma. It has a sticky yet oily mouth feel. Malty sweet flavor with a little pine bitterness at the end. The hops and malt are well balanced. This is my favorite brew by Southern Star.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted from can. Pours a hazy amber gold with thick white head. Aroma is fairly sweet. Caramel, toffee, biscuits and some pine. Taste is not very bitter. A little too much on the malty sweet side. Sticky mouthfeel. Flavors of pine, earthy notes, caramel, toffee, biscuit and a little tropical fruit. Overall an average double IPA.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. can. Pours a thick, gradually diminishing. ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy, amber (SRM 13) body....nose is light pine, slight resin, hints of pineapple from the hops, cereal, hints of toffee/caramel from the malts, balance to the hops......taste is slightly sweet with floral notes, light pine, resin, hints of pineapple, tropical fruits (peach, mango) moderate cereal, finishing with a lingering moderate hop bitterness......mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation adds creaminess. This is a pleasant and quite typical I/DIPA. It is nicely balanced, slightly sweet, with hops mostly dominant in both aroma and flavor. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

Can. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer and exceeded my expectations.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. can from Dutch’s. Pours a clear orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor had resin and citrus hops, caramel malt, toasted bread, not overly bitter, as I continue drinking more tropical notes sneak in, sweeter, this could use more bittering hops IMO, decent.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz can, from Dutch’s. Clear orange amber color, with a bigger off-white head. Some caramel malt. Some tropical fruity hop aroma. Pine. Moderate-plus sweet taste. Light to moderate bitter. Kind of resiny. Some bubblegum. Medium to bigger body. Kind of slick texture. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. Solid DIPA. Maltier, but enjoyable. Satisfyingly resiny and tropicaly hoppy finish.
