4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Incredibly smooth and easy to drink stout. Smooth roasted flavors, nuts, toasted bread, caramel and of course creamy milk. Light bitterness for balance.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Nice pour, crisply carbonated but with the expected and anticipated heft to it. Nose was a bit reticent, with dusty baker’s chocolate and just hints of what might be beyond. Full mouthfeel, nice and smooth, but overall not as chocolatey as I’d anticipated (especially given this particular brewer) and also not especially lactic. Instead, a bitter and roasty stout with a solid chocolatey foundation. Good but wanted something a bit different.

3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Weak aroma with a soapy looking head. Not very sweet. Not very anything...except 7.5%. Decent brew. Will not be memorable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a just barely translucent dark brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is predominately sweet, with a malty, sugary profile, with just a hint of bitterness. Alcohol is very noticeable. Mouthfeel is well above average for a beer of this style, with a velvety palate. In sum: One of the best milk stouts I’ve tried, comparable to those made by Left Hand and Duck Rabbit. However, the Southern Tier pedigree is there--tasting this, you can see the links to Chocolat, Jah-va, and Creme Brulee Stouts. Think of this as an "imperial milk stout."

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Flaske: Brunsort øl med et lille skumhoved. Duften er sødlig maltet. Smagen er derimod kompleks med en smule røg og bacon ovenpå en meget sød sweet stout. Dejlig øl egentlig. Med masser af southern tier sødme.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small brown head. Opaque black body goes dark brown at edges. Earthy chocolatey sugary aroma with roasty caramelly resiny notes. Dry-sweet chocolatey raisin taste with perfumy dusty notes. Fullish body. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish burnt dusty earthy aftertaste with sooty chocolate and sugar notes. Lovely, balanced, and highly drinkable. (0.355l bottle, Gaasa, Oslo.)
