2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Man, almost no aroma here. Light-bodied, some coffee, but like their DIPA, this is weak for a double stout. Sweet? Milky? Really? Did not notice. Somewhat of a bitter finish due to the coffee notes. Not bad, but not great.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
32oz growler from Moondog Growlers- Marietta, GA ----> nonic pint (that was provided free of charge by the store). Pours deep inky black with a 2 finger tan head that never totally disappears, but fades quickly. Aroma is mainly malt with light coffee- not much in the way of aroma. Taste makes up for the lack of aroma (suprisingly) with sweetness up front and bitter cocoa and coffee on the back end. Medium palate, a little thicker than most milk stouts. This one hits the mark as far as milk stouts go. If the aroma was a bit more interesting, it would have gotten a higher rating. Great milk stout.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured this beer from the bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a full black color with a small-medium foamy tan head with short retention, good lacing, and very light cling. The aroma was a rich chocolate and caramel malt blend with light sugar and molasses tones, a slight touch of coffee, and some earthy and grainy hops to balance. Its taste had a sweet chocolate and caramel flavor that yields to a bitter and slightly sour grainy and earthy mix. The beer had a creamy body and was wet with low to average carbonation and fizz, and a drying alcohol presence.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Chriso’s 2012 Pre-GBBF Shindig, London. Pours dark brown with a fine, white foam head. Dusty cocoa nose, a bit of alcohol. Nice, rich flavor with some sugary chocolate. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Medium to heavy sweetness on the finish, some earth, dirt, burnt sugar, moderate roast. Very sweet. Decent overall.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2013 Pours really dark with nice tan head and good lacing. Aroma is mainly sweet lactose, with a little bit of roast taking a back seat. Let this warm up quite a bit first. Taste is very sweet up front, with more roast and a little bitter hops coming through in the end. Not bad at all.
Either I got a better bottle this time, or else I can appreciate a good stout now.
I get the sweet lactose up front, but that’s about the only appealing thing about this one for me. Thick texture, burnt coffee taste, almost acrid. My deviation from the average makes me believe this beer has gone bad. Bottled 7 months ago... I know it’s got a high ABV, but that seems too long regardless. 4+4+3+3+4=1.8

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (355ml) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Very dark brown/black colour. Half-inch beige head that reduces quite rapidly, leaving a thin ring and a small amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, raw coffee beans, cola, cream, licorice, wood. Also the unmistakable Southern Tier funky hop twist. Medium body, soft carbonation. Semi-sweet taste with a growing bitterness having a chocolate/coffee/licorice characteristic. Nicely complex and balanced.

dark chocolate and some acrid smoke the beer seems a little light in the body. slick mouthfeel and clear liquid look to it. sweet cocoa and fading foamy head. not too much else really going on and for that matter no need for it.
