COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

From notes: Poured opaque ink-black with a 2-finger dark tan/mocha-colored head. Roasty aroma mixed with dairy cream. Nice, full body with a slight creaminess. Flavor is roasty and chocolatey, with a note of dairy cream in the finish. Very pleasantly surprised by this.

A little sweet decent aroma with a nice texture. An overall little above average stout

Deep brown in the glass with minimal head. Roasted malt aroma, maybe a hint of a coffee note. Rich mouthfeel, slight sweetness, but still maintains a pleasant roasted malt bitterness as well. Lengthy roasted malty finish.

Alright, first new stout I’ve drank in quite a while. Hope it’s decent. Really dark pour. Light brown head, settles and mostly disappears, leaving an edge ring of foam. Aroma is, a little chocolate and coffee. Not a lot of roast. About what I expect from a milk stout. Flavor is more roasted than the aroma, palate is smooth and very nice. Good depth of taste, one dimensional but that’s not always a flaw in my book. Not overly sweet, good carbonation. A rather delicious beer in fact. Give it a go.

Opaque brown. Roasted almonds on the nose. Full bodied with an intense roasted mid palate. No sweetness to speak of. Drinks more like an English dry stout.

when i left the store with this beer i was sort of wondering why i was doing such things, because i hate sweet stouts. but i love southern tier and it was a small bottle. it pours much lighter than i imagined and not nearly as viscous. dark brown to black color nose of caramel oreos, cookie, biscut, almond, biscotti. taste is sooty, with a nutty sweetness that sneaks in the end there. this is my dessert and its not nearly as sweet and gross as i thought it would be. still, probably wouldnt buy it again unless i was doing a pairing thing or making a chocolate stout cake.

Tap. Creamy tan head on a nearly black body. Lots of malted milk balls, chocolate, light roast, sweetness, and chocolate. Loads of milk lacto sweetness, chocolate, lightly toasty and some roast. Medium body with vibrant carbonation. Not bad.

bottle from beckley’s with born on date of 2/6/12 consumed 6/12/12. dark and pretty much opaque with a tan head. aroma is a lot like whoppers...malty, choco, milk, bitterness, some hazelnut-like nuttiness and a touch of coffee. flavor is much the same... sweetish but bitter coffee-ish finish helps clean it up. it gets to tasting a little ilke peanut butter cups as it warms...with a coffee back... creamy when sloshed around but it remains quite easy to drink. 7/4/7/4/15

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, cocoa, & chocolate; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, milk chocolate, hops, coffee, and some caramel; Finish is slightly bitter; Nicely balanced; Tasty stout - quite enjoyable.
