COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of chrisv10. Pours a clear dark brown with an orange hue and a beige head. Sweet vanillaish roast in the nose. Rich body, sweet roast, some dark chocolate and a rather bitter finish from both hops and roast. I’m not REALLY a great fan of lactose sugars in my beer. 030412

Bottle. Pours a black with off white head. Aromas of lactose, coffee, and cocoa, Sweet, chocolate flavors. For a Double milk stout, it could pack a little more of a punch, but pretty good nonetheless.

durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 2, 2012
Bottle, nervously consumed while watching UNC barely make it into the Elite Eight. Pours nearly black with a tan head. Nose is complex milk sugars, with chocolate and coffee notes but also more complex lactic caramel and toffee. Similar taste. Sweet, but still complex. Dangerously drinkable, but that may have also had to do with my basketball watching and nerves.

Nice creamy beer, but it was a tad thin for a stout. This had a really sweet taste that finishes dry. Mild hop presence. It was ok. Mild notes of chocolate.

[Thanks to MatSciGuy]. 12fl. bottle. Black colur with a large formation of tan head with a small bubbles. Average lacing and normal lacing. Aroma has toasted malts notes, black coffee and licorice. Flavour is toasty, roasty, slightly spicy, with notes of strong black coffee and moderate licorice and slightly wooden hints. The final is decent dominating the toasted malts. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium. Texture is slightly oily.
