Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

smokiness sweetness wood and roast marshmallow aroma very nice..giant foamy tan head..dark brown opague liquid...taste smoky, toffee, creamy and sweet but not overwhelmingly so..rather light in texture and carbonation slight warming feeling as well..overall..a bit tame but well blended and substantial so I’ll give it it’s props and Ill try it again certainly good bargain at about 10 bucks a 6 pack I like a bit more "strength" but I dont want to nitpick

Sweeter stout then i’d prefer but worth the drink. Silky smooth but not a deep dark color, great head to it though.

Pours a jet black, thick as oil. Pure chocolate bomb in the nose. Thick mouthfeel. Sweet, sticky and lingering. Medium carbonation. If you are familiar with Southern Tier’s beers, imagine crossing the Choklat with the Oat and then dialing the intensity back a few notches and this is the beer you get. Some people hate southern tier, some love them. I fall into the homer category who really likes their stuff, this being no exception. The best thing is this is offered in 6 packs for a reasonable price. Kudos to ST for making a respectable imperial stout at an affordable price.

poured from 12 ounce bottle - Got to give it to S.T. for trying this one, but doesn’t work for me overall. Too much alcohol comes through on the end and not enough sweetness--almost grainy.

Bottle. Poured into a tulip glass a dark brown color with a thick light tan head. Slight roast and chocolate in the nose but nothing over the top like some of their other beers. Medium, velvety mouthfeel. Slight roast with a dark chocolate sweetness. Almost has a little smokiness to it as well. Ends with a lingering bitterness and leather taste. Overall, not as good as I expected from them.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a very dark brown with a large fizzy tan head. Average head retention. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, nuts, coffee, faint hop finish. The taste is sweet malts, cocoa, nuts, oats, lactose, coffee and a bitter hop finish. Medium-full bodied. Nice beer.

12oz picked up from the bottle shop in South Philly. Lactic stout... sweet with toasted malts, some vanilla and sugary notes in the finish. Delicious and full flavored, but not overly heavy... easily seasonable, impressive for the 7.5.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2013 Very dark with a light brown head. Aroma is dark roasty malt. Very burnt roasty malt flavor with hints of dark caramel. Smooth, but not heavy or thick. The alcohol strength is well masked.
