COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque black/brown color, rocky, bubbly two-finger tan head, thick cobwebs of lace. Taste is strong caramel malt that has so much sweet toffee, that no other tastes have a chance. There is finally some bittering at the end, but it isn’t enough to balance. A big, noticeably alcoholic brew, but enjoyable in small amounts.

355ml bottle. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of lactose milkiness, creamy toffee, fudge, some liquorice. Taste is toffee, light milky coffee, some cardboard. Sweet, but a bit thin finish.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - close to opaque black with a nice crema head. Nose - initial dairy thing, then light cardboard note, then toffee follows it in. Taste - initially slight oxidised cardboard again, then liquorice, nuts, praline generally. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry and fairly balanced finish. Overall - this needs to be re-rated as the bottle was a little past its BBD.

Bottle: Oily black body with a light-tan head that doesn’t last for long. Aroma of molasses, sweet brown sugar, faint coffee, creamy milk chocolate, toasty caramel. Flavor is sweet.. VERY sweet. Loads of sweet chocolate, milky lactose sweetness, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, even some hints of vanilla & toasted nuts. Loads of residual sugar coat your teeth instantly. Too much sweetness to drink a full glass. Not bad but goddamn.

pitch black color. Brownies soaked in bakers chocolate. Not sweet nose. Med full mouth, decent bakers chocolate and brownies mouths. Very dry. Lingering chocolatey finish. Fantastic.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a darker brown with a beige head of foam. No retention, really. The aroma has milky chocolate and anise. The taste is moderately bitter, with a milky sweetness to it. Chewy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Maybe a little past its prime.

Poured up a black brew with a head that quickly died to absolutely nothing. Looks flat now. Smells of roasted and chocolate malts makes the lack of any head seem not so bad. Taste did not disappoint either and was the same as the aroma. Silky smooth to drink but only marginal carbonation feel. So it tastes great, needs improvement on body, but the price is not too far out there and the 7.5% make it worth drinking.

The aroma of coffee. The taste is of dark malt and black coffee. Okay bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long while. Okay and easy to drink beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
