COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

This is my current favorite Milk Stout. The taste is great, it's really smooth, and strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brune-noire très foncée. Mousse marron claire, seul anneau persistant.

330ml bottle served in a big snifter glass. A: Pours a blackish brown color forming a small but quite creamy beige head. Medium retention and only small spotty lacings left in the glass S: Strong notes of roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Biscuity. Earthy yeast profile. Great notes of flowery hops in the end T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of roasted malts, coffee, milk and dark chocolate follows by a sharp hops bitterness in the end. Great balance of roasted malts bitterness and hops bitterness M: Heavy, creamy and milky body. Smooth. Good carbonation (a bit too much, indeed). Roasted malts and hops in the aftertaste O: Great drinkability. Delicious American Milk Stout [ BA Review @ 6/5/2014 ]

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique May 2013. Everything that you want in a stout is in this beer- deep black colour, great aroma and flavour with malt, chocolate and a bitter finish.

Drank out of a mason jar poured from a twelve ounce bottle purchased from Wegmans. Wonderful aromas of chocolately, roasted sweetness. Pours almost black, a nice light brown head, and very little carbonation. A delicious stout, one of the best stouts I have ever had and I’m a stout person.

10/1/14. Bottle. Pours almost black with minimal head and some lacing. Mild but roast nose dominated by malt. Bitter dominates the sweet with bitter coffee and licorice notes. Somewhat thin given the ABV but still a nice mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
