Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Pours almost pitch black with good aroma of roast coffee, malt, and hazelnut. Good lacing and head. Tastes like coffee, toffee, malt, some hops, cream and ends with a coffee/ hop finish. Overall a pretty good stout that I would buy again.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. This is nearly perfect and quite enjoyable. Plenty of creamy goodness with nothing over-the-top to spoil things. Not to be missed.

Not a bad stout from Southern Tier! I love the complexity of this brew and how smooth the finish is....this has been their downfall to me in the past!

Bottle pour. Deep brown, almost black with beige head atop. Soft chocolate nose, with toasted malts and lactose sweetness. Medium body. Bitter chocolate, a little nuttiness, some espresso on taste. Drinks like a single. Alright.

Bottle from Hop City. Pours an opaque dark brown with a ring of tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Taste has coffee but the chocolate really comes through. A roasted malt finish.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a quickly diminishing light brown frothy head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of vanilla, hay and light malts. Medium sweet and light to medium bitter in a light body, oily to sticky mouthfeel, lively carbonation and a sticky sweet finish. Hides the alcohol moderately well.
