COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Long time wish list beer, and a bit of a letdown. Dated 11/13. Aroma is nice enough, big roasted notes, chocolate and lactose. Not a standout, though. Looks good. Feel and flavor are a little off...a bit of unwanted lactic tartness in there with a touch too much sweet and not enough stout. Not a bad beer, but with the other stouts these guys put out, i expected much better

Drought. Inky black with creamy beige head, light coffee aroma, low carbonation, slightly bitter coffee taste, longish sweet finish. Very smooth but a bit thin in body.

Poured from bottle to glass. Dark brown hue with fizzy tan head that dissipated. Aroma is cola, coffee, roast, molasses, soy. Mouthfeel is easy with a medium body and soft carbonation. Taste is de throughout with an astringent following and slight ethanol finish. Overall this beer was bordering watery and had a slight metallic essence in the finish.

Bottled from Bier Genot, DOB 02/13/13, large sample, served in a shaker. Aroma of roasted malts, lactose, slight blackcurrant, dark fruit, bit coffee and chocolate. Medium sweet in taste, bit bitter from the roast. Bit watery palate actually. Creamy texture. Soft carbonation, low bodied. Decent stuff.

On tap at Brick and Barley, Grand Forks. Quite a nice stout. More on the dry side for a "sweet stout" though it was served very cold so that could affect things.Roasty with a touch of cocoa. Very nice.

Single from total wine. Milky smooth texture and sweet but it seems like it is somewhat of a contrived sweetness. The sugar just sort of hangs in here and doesn’t really add all that much. Faint stout and roasty malt flavors on the back of the palate. Ok but definitely could have a little more character.

Look: pours a dark black. No light gets through. Tan head is very thick. Smell: smokiness. Malt heavy. Vanilla. Taste: chocolate. Slight soy sauce. Cream. Roastiness malt. Feel: very smooth. Creamy feel. Overall: to much roast for my taste. First drank: 7/27/14 home

Bottle at home from brewdog online
opaque loamy brown with thin dark tan lacing. Rich caramel and toasty barley. Full bodied, low carbonation, touch of mint and treacle, thick rich sweetish finish with chalky dryness.
