3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a just barely translucent dark brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is predominately sweet, with a malty, sugary profile, with just a hint of bitterness. Alcohol is very noticeable. Mouthfeel is well above average for a beer of this style, with a velvety palate. In sum: One of the best milk stouts I’ve tried, comparable to those made by Left Hand and Duck Rabbit. However, the Southern Tier pedigree is there--tasting this, you can see the links to Chocolat, Jah-va, and Creme Brulee Stouts. Think of this as an "imperial milk stout."

Draft at Uno. Minimal tan head, oily brown pour. Some depth and creaminess here. Burnt sugar, toffee, vanilla. Not my favorite.

Bottle, BBOTMC. Opaque and very dark brown. Sweet chocolate milk aroma, a little burnt. Bitter, malty with a little bit sourness that then becomes bitter again, full body, and burnt bitter aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a black brown color with a light brown head. Notes of burnt biscuits, milk chocolate, milk balls, and cookie. The creamy mouthfeel is a little off putting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is quite subtle, with some lactose and light milky notes. Flavour brings out similar notes, along with a touch of sweetness. Very creamy mouthfeel, with a lightly sweet finish. Great milk stout here, with high drinkability.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great version of a double stout. Southern Tier do not disappoint. Aroma is toasted coffee and barrel aged oak whiskey. Flavor is deep roasted coffee and brown sugar, with the right amount of hops to finish. Great brew!

Nitro draft. Nice black color. Smells and tastes like caramel and sweetened coffee. Good in the bottle but great on nitro.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Alibi Room in Vancouver. A black brew with beige head. Silky smooth roasted malts assault the tongue! A sweet stout that’s not that sweet. A chocolate note there somewhere. Sweet!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On nitro tap at Global Brew. Wow, what a great stout! Settles down as a black, opaque rich brew with a lasting light tan nitro head. Aroma is fresh brewed coffee with cream in it. Taste is burnt malt, cocoa and espresso, but not astringently so. Velvety smooth with a bit of milk flavor coming through at the end. ABV not overdone, but clearly noticeable compared to a Guinness.

Ice coffee nose. Super creamy sweet milk flavor, bitter coffee finish. Very smooth, like a frappuccino in a brew, works great!
