3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a dark dark brown, not quite jet black, but has medium brown highlights with decent clarity with a minor amount of white skim-like foam. Aroma is sweet, maybe a bit of roast and some light candy-like sweetness. As dark as this beer appears, the roast element is definitely not as prevalent as one would think. Taste is sugary sweet up front, with the definite and undeniably unique sweetness given from lactose sugar. Secondary to the sweetness is that of a cup of cold brewed coffee without any astringency. Body has a silken like texture with a moderate amount of carbonation. As the glass became more empty we noticed that it took on an almost soda-pop like texture where the carbonation along with the sweetness seemed to overwhelm. Alcohol is well hidden. Nice to try, but I think I would get sick of this one fast.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
At just on cool this pours an opaque, darkest brown, almost black. Lifts up a decent, foamy tan head that holds well and leaves a thick lace. Smoky, burnt cedar and peppery, Hungarian Salami on the nose; heavily roasted coffee, light butter, light cocoa in there too. Creamy, smooth and silky on the palate. Bitter, burnt coffee bean and spicy, bitter hops on the finish. Medial almost lean body; luckily with good presence. No lactose or milk sugars evident; pretty dry overall. Malty, sandy, gritty roasted midpalate; smoke and ash linger long between sips. No alcohol presence. Not much here. Goes down alright but is mostly forgettable. Hoped for more! 3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Gloopy pour. Black with a light tan head. Aroma of milky chocolate, mild roast, cardamon, vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel, low carbonation. Rich, milky sweet with fudge, chocolate and coffee, Less roasty than suggested by the aroma. Some light floral notes along with the Indian sweetmeat spices. Bitterness creeps up to partially arrest the sweet finish. No sign of the alcohol. Nice, cuddly beer.

3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light Aroma or chocolate. Rich deep black color. Nice rich creamy, chocolatey taste. Combined with lots of malt, caramel, and toffee. It has a nice complex flavor. It has a sharp bitter finish. I wish it had less of a bitter finished because the initial flavor is so pleasant.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a very dark brown with a medium, foamy light tan head which lasts the duration. Nose is very lactose forward with a fair bit of dry sweetness and roastiness. Lots of vanilla. Taste is all about the sugar and lactose. Vanilla forward with cream and soy notes. Sort of nutty in a way. Very creamy mouth feel which works in it’s favour. Rather sweet and focuses a lot on that which doesn’t. Not bad

355 ml bottle from wegmans in Niagara Falls. Black, tan head. Nice and roasty, well hopped. Doesn’t drink like a sweet stout. I like this a lot but it isn’t what it says it is.
