3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a light amber (lighter than expected), with a fleeting white head. Aroma of tangerine, soap, pine, malt, and alcohol. Taste is good bitter resin, surprisingly short finish. Mild carbonation, a good body to it. Decent double IPA.

Transfer from BA review on 3-28-12 -
Poured from the bottle into pint glass
Appearance – The body is of golden color with a large white head formed upon pouring. The head has a nice persistence, but eventually slowly fades to give very nice lacing.
Smell – The hop aromas are plentiful. A nice piney hop aroma is the strongest. This pine is mixed with some grassy, earthy, and grapefruit hop aromas as well with an ever so light bready malt aroma. Overall a nice complex aroma.
Taste – A biscuity maltiness with a heavy but smooth pine hop flavor start out the taste profile. There is a very light citrus mixed into the taste as well. As the taste advances, the hop taste while still remaining piney, starts to transition to a more bitter flavor. Bitter earthy tasting hops come on strong toward the middle and the end of the taste. These bitter hop flavors then take the taste to its end and leave a lingering “dirty” tasting bitterness on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The mouthfeel is on the creamier side with a moderate carbonation level. Very suiting for the beer but nothing too exceptional.
Overall – The beer has some nice characteristics with a nice mix of hoppy tastes. The major drawback it the rather average body and the somewhat unpleasant bitterness it leaves on the tongue.

I got a btl of this beer at Castle and checked date. Bottled very recently almost shockly less than a week old. Never tried this beer afraid it would have that alcohol/resin taste that some dbl ipas can have, which i do not like. Due to the freshness i figure this would be the best opportunty to see this beer at its best. It was great. Great hops but also balanced and great piney/citrus nose. Which hid the high abv. Really enjoyed. I have had a lot of good and bad dbl ipas this one is up there. Other favs pliney, gandhibot, heady, dirtwolf, hopranch.

12 oz Bottle. Tasted on 5/24/14. Bottle from Total Wine & More. The aroma has a dry pine, light earth notes & some floral notes. The taste is also dry with a similar taste to the aroma. Definitely not my favorite IPA but was ok overall. Would put it on my list to go out & buy.

Pours a golden hazy color with a decent white head. Aroma is hops, resin, pine, citrus brightness. Taste is the same but with added body, somewhat syrupy pine, lots of grapefruit. Overall a very drinkable and sessionable IPA.

12 oz. bottle. Bright Golden pour a little haze, with a white head. Aroma is bitter hops, lemon, orange, caramel sweetness. Taste is bitter right up front, dank resiny hops with pine and grapefruit. Bready, bitter and citrusy finish.

5/14/14. Growler fromWhole Foods. Poured golden yellow with nice two finger head and good lacing. Looked pretty clear compared to some reviews. Drinks much more like a standard IPA than an Imperial. None of the hop/alcohol balance mouthfeel of my favorite DIPAs. Big hop mouth with a medium citrusy nose.

Bottle@bishops. Yellow golden, clearish. Citrus green floral, meadowy, light estery nose. Full body, butterscotch citrus. Has a bit of a soapy strange finish I don’t appreciate too much. Smooth though, easy to palate.

Lovely fragrant tropical and zesty aroma like papaya and lime. Paler than most ipas, nice lacing though, and a deep golden glow. in the mouth it’s all treble and no mids or bass - pineapple juice and handy andy spring to mind. carapils abuse leaves a slimy aftertaste, although not too toffeeish like darker ipas. kind of a weird beer, but has its attractions.
