COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not quite an imperial, but certainly not a standard India pale ale. Our double IPA is a hop lovers dream. Citrusy and clean with an incredible finish.

Very nice IPA. I think the 2x moniker is a little misleading; this is definitely no double IPA. Still, I would definitely pick it up again.

12 oz bottle. Clear golden yellow with a small, spotty white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, crackers, sugar and flowers. Flavor is bitter hops up front that fades to a light honey and cracker malt finish. Medium to light body with average carbonation and a dry, clean mouth feel. Great beer, the alcohol is very well hidden and the balance of hops and malt is nice.

This double IPA pour a hazy golden colour with a creamy white head, great retention and very nice soapy lacing. The nose is hoppy, but not as I expected. It is quite mild with some notes of fruits (almost like pineapple and oranges). The alcohol is very well-hidden and this one goes down very easily. Again, the taste is pretty mild with hop creating a little bitterness. This really is going down too smoothly. Quite a nice blended brew that is totally worth the money (as most beers of that high alcohol are quite expensive usually).

Ive never had anything from Southern Tier that was less than excellent and so the tradition continues with 2XIPA! In a word, smooth! I disagree with the brewers description, this is every bit a DIPA and a good one at that.

on draft. this is a very good ipa..well double ipa. the great yellow color being poured with a white head that left some decent lacing on the glass. the nose of hops..subtle at time and strong at others wonderful flavors of citrus and floral..southern tier cant go wrong on this one..holds true to form with their others. most of their beers has an oily texture but its all in good form with the use of those hops.

Bottle. Vibrant golden color with a small white head. Looks great in the early evening sun. Big fruit and citrus aroma. Pineapple, orange, grapefruit, and resinous hops. Flavor is sweet with candied pineapple, oily hops, and grapefruit. Not overly bitter, but slightly sweeter than Id like. Medium body that borders on lighter when compared to other dipas. Still, really quite nice.

The hops start out strong on first taste, but smoothen out quickly. Love this IPA as a second choice to Dogfish 90.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chalice. Appearance: Pours a clear medium golden color with orange highlights and a 3 finger fluffy egg-shell white head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Smell: Pine and sweet citrus with a touch of alcohol in the background. Taste: Pine up front followed citrus and sweet malt in the middle before ending with a mix of lemon zest and oranges. Aftertaste is mildly bitter. Very well-balanced. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Very smooth. Drinkability: High drinkability. Goes down easily for a beer with 8.2% ABV. Overall: Very good beer overall. One of the better widely available DIPAs. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Bubbly golden pour with a thick firm white head. Sweet and hoppy nose. Mouth is ever more hoppy. Lots of bitterness in the initial mouth. Actually almost overpowering. Then it fades very very quickly into a pleasant warmness and sweetness. Im usually not a fan of IPAs due to the grapefruit like tart and bitterness, but this gets that done with quick and ends very well. Best IPA I have had.

Bottle. Pours a pale gold with little head. Lots of pine hop aroma in the nose. taste if very hoppy but very one dimensional. almost a watery finish. Could really use more citrus notes or malts to round out the taste. Finishes sticky.
