COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not quite an imperial, but certainly not a standard India pale ale. Our double IPA is a hop lovers dream. Citrusy and clean with an incredible finish.

The hops start out strong on first taste, but smoothen out quickly. Love this IPA as a second choice to Dogfish 90.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chalice. Appearance: Pours a clear medium golden color with orange highlights and a 3 finger fluffy egg-shell white head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Smell: Pine and sweet citrus with a touch of alcohol in the background. Taste: Pine up front followed citrus and sweet malt in the middle before ending with a mix of lemon zest and oranges. Aftertaste is mildly bitter. Very well-balanced. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Very smooth. Drinkability: High drinkability. Goes down easily for a beer with 8.2% ABV. Overall: Very good beer overall. One of the better widely available DIPA’s. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Bubbly golden pour with a thick firm white head. Sweet and hoppy nose. Mouth is ever more hoppy. Lots of bitterness in the initial mouth. Actually almost overpowering. Then it fades very very quickly into a pleasant warmness and sweetness. I’m usually not a fan of IPAs due to the grapefruit like tart and bitterness, but this gets that done with quick and ends very well. Best IPA I have had.

Bottle. Pours a pale gold with little head. Lots of pine hop aroma in the nose. taste if very hoppy but very one dimensional. almost a watery finish. Could really use more citrus notes or malts to round out the taste. Finishes sticky.

Bob brought this one for sharing at the Islands 2011. Pours a light golden color with small white head. Aroma is citrus, honey, malt. Taste is sweet with nice grapefruit/orange notes. A nice DIPA which hides the alcohol very well and has some nice sweetness to it. Thanks Bob.

pint at Tyler’s Apex. ok aroma, bittersweet. orange, kind of musty/cobweb thing going on. really mello aroma for a IIPA. Clean brownish orange color, good head and lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body, oily creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. I dunno if it was a bad batch, mislabeled keg, but this seemed dull for a IIPA, will revisit in the bottle to try to compare....

Bottle bought in January at Woodman’s Oak Creek. Keep meaning to get to the IPAs while they’re still fresh. Oh well. Nice golden color, thick spongy head. Smell is malty with just a bit of orange peel. It takes a few sips for the hops to start showing up. Mostly orangey with a pine secondary. Bitterness at the back of the palate. May not be the hop bomb it might have been eight months ago. Alcohol is not pronounced. But a fine IPA nonetheless.

On tap at The White Horse, Parsons Green, London, 05.08.11 Quite decent thrusting bitterness from the off. Dark golden colour, white head some grapefruit but also some fresh clean hoppiness. tasty beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bright shiny brass colored brew from the bottle with a very thin white head. This beer smells of bright grapefruit and lively pine. This is mouth slapping bitter up front. There is ashtray rubbed grapefruit peel and lots of pine, especially in the finish. A little soapy in the aftertaste. I would like a little balance to the pure hop juice.

Aroma - very light Appearance - blond, clear, light fizz, small head Taste - a solid/strong IPA. Medium smooth, no bitterness Palate - medium body Overall - Just as the description says, this is not truly a double/imperial IPA but it is much better than a typical IPA; smoother and not as bitter hoppy.
