3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Capone’s last Saturday.
Pours a light gold bordering on yellow. Nice white head in the tulip and large amounts of lacing as it makes its way down. Promising start but the nose is a big letdown. With a name like 2XIPA, I’m expecting something big and bold. This brings a bit of citrus and grass, but nothing over the top. Taste is the same, although the bitterness levels are pretty high. Not much malt and very little actual hop flavor apart from the bitterness; not sire what they were going for here. Mouthfeel is dry and slightly alcoholic. Good drinkability as I like me some resin with my lunch, but nothing spectacular.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A-Pours a golden color with a tint of coper. white head with a decent amount of lace.
S-smells of sweet citrus hops and some other milds sweetness.
T-First on the pallet is hops followed by a nice balance of malt sweetness. Very balanced yet still intricate enough to keep things interesting. Tastes become more aparent as the beer warms
M-mouth feel is excellent and gets better as it warms as well. Carbonation is dead on.
D- This is a great offering from Southern Tier. Its a very drinkable double IPA with enough hops to itch the hop-head scratch but that the same time has enough malt to keep things in check. The abv is completely hidden as well which makes this drinkability dangerous.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at The Cad’s Pure Mad Rocket Mon The Beezer Tasting. Pours clearish, light gold with a small head. Pine, caramel, citrus and light bread in the nose. Pretty sweet flavor, with pineapple and honey, and moderate bitterness. Medium in body with average carbonation. Short to medium bitterness in the finish, with some tingly alcohol and light, lingering resins in the throat. Good stuff, very drinkable.

A Mes rate. Bottle at The Cad’s Pure Mad Rocket Mon The Beezer Tasting.
Very pale indeed for an American double IPA, a distinct lack of crystal malt. Sadly they seem to have replaced it with Golden Wonder Ready Salted crisps. The hops have died somewhat although there is still a good amount of bitterness. Pleasant grassy notes too. Actually, I have to take my hat off to Southern Tier for making an IPA without going ott with the malt. Good fruity notes and generally acceptable but a little way off what I was hoping for from a brewery I generally really like.

First Snowfall of the Season tasting in Odense. Golden with a small white head. Citrus hoppy aroma, with lemon and orange peel, and a strong note of karamel and tea. Citrus hop flavour caramel and a tannic bitterness. 2X on the Caramel malt or on the hops?

Dark golden with a medium creamy white head. Nice fruity aroma, especially pineapple. A lot of hops but also malt to make a good balance. Nice bitterness. A good and fresh beer.
