3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JCB (3804) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 22, 2013
A few sixers from Sam’s, Durham, over the last few years. Pretty solid and affordable DIPA. Pours bright and vibrant, with a generally clean look that seems apposite to its relatively pale hue. Vigorous carbonation, and the nose is a nicely balanced mix of dry and sweetly fruity. Dangerously drinkable and well balanced for a beer nudging above 8%, with some fruit in the beer’s core but mostly pleasantly bitter throughout.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 bwa5879 (305) - Portage, Michigan, USA - MAY 22, 2013
Clear peach colored pour with eighth inch of white head and a decent amount of small bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of fresh hay, lemon citrus, and sour malt. Taste is a bit on the bitter side. Piney, resinous hop flavor dominates. Biscuit malt present in flavor as well. Slgihtly tingly, chalky mouthfeel, average carbonation with a dry, numbing finish somewhat similar to sake. I think this one was stored too long. I remember liking it more. Will certainly rate a fresher bottle in the future.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Brenhophead (382) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 20, 2013
355mL bottle (DOB is 8th march 2013). Pours a pale straw colour with a small head and a sweet sherbet/citrus aroma that is very faint. Big resinous piney hit in the flavour with a heavy bitter backing that is balanced nicely by the sweetness. Better than the standard IPA. Alas an imperial IPA is all about the hops and this beer, sadly, is not.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ferris (491) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 17, 2013
Bottle - Citrus and some pine nice malt sweetness. Clear gold with a thin white head. Hit of bitterness and bit of booze, pine and a nice malt backbone. Medium body and some tropical fruit in the mix. Overall a nice 2IPA.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 gonzosauce (133) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAY 15, 2013
Honey blossom, orange, and bubblegum aroma. Overly translucent, mostly straightforward yellow. Too fuckin easy to drink for a double, and carrying the aroma right through to the palate! Small, crisp, expanding bubbles that attempt a velcro sort of relationship with the tongue. Incredibly well balanced too; all the crisp aggression of the hops, held up by the stem of perfect malted thorniness.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7308) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 15, 2013
Small white head with shards of lace; clear, pale orange-copper beer, well-carbonated. Fruity nose with grapefruit, lytchee, passion fruit and muscat; also succade. Quite bitter, and also similarily fruity. Citruspeel, succadehints if not sweet. Hopoils abundant; bit of cookies, again all but bereft of sweetness. Something of green tea too. Well-carbonated, medium bodied, and quite slidk. Refreshing despite the oils. Nice DIPA.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hondajunkie (46) - Tinley Park, Illinois, USA - MAY 14, 2013
12 oz. Bottle from 6 pk bottle in 1/21/13. Pours a cloudy golden color with a white 1 finger head, good sticky lacing.
A: a slight hop presence with plenty of caramel malt (is the beer past it’s prime? )
M:Chewy, thick caramel malt followed by a slight piney hop bite. Wonder if age of beer may be knocking down the presence of hops. Not bad but will probably ne better when more fresh. Good brew nonetheless.
