3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a bottle, a deep brown color with red hints in the light and a small off-white head. Aroma is spices, Holiday spices: allspice, light nutmeg, with brown sugar and caramel malts. Great taste. Seems to me it belongs in the spice/herb category of beers; but this is one of the better beers in this type of winter/holiday category I have tried. It has a medium body that is smooth and spices. Very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Ar: Brown sugar, deep malts, dark caramel - raisin and molasses.
Ap: Deep red - medium light tan head with moderate retention and a thin web of foam left over.
T: Dark caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, and some clove - medium sweetness - black pepper, clean warming alcohol - very spicy - bitter orange - medium-low bitterness.
P: Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation - finish is medium-dry.
O: Lots of bold flavors here - spice and malt really come through - spice flavors are a bit overdone, but still very seasonal.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the brewery. Pours a deep amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma has a ton of winter spices- juniper, nutmeg, allspice- tons of spice on top of caramel malts, toast, and nuts. Flavor is the same. Some faint berry notes, too. Medium-bodied, with a spicy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I liked the spice but understand that others may not. Maybe it was also enhanced by drinking it fresh, in the winter, and at the source. Good beer.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
Beer 31 Asheville trip, also nipped off the wife’s sampler at Thirsty Monk. Medium amber. Aroma of potpourri. Flavor matched, just an awful cacophony of cinammon, nutmeg, clove, faint ginger, freakin’ Santa’s elves’ deodorant in a box levels of spicing. Some may like this. Others, like myself, feel like this is being trapped in a Yankee Candle store and held captive. Yikes. After that rant, wish I could have tried it mulled, that could have worked better. Oh yeah, we didn’t even finish the sample pour between the two of us.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This pours a clear, medium brown color with a slight, beige head. The scent is slightly sweet with some spice and fruit. The taste is strong and bold but has great complex flavors. There is a great blend of malts and spices along with a slight hoppy finish. A great brew for those cold winter months!

Bottle. Poured a medium amber color with minimal off-white head. Aroma was spicy with some nutmeg and perhaps ginger. The flavor followed with some cinammon and other spice. Some malt in there as well. Fairly similar to some of the other holiday brews.
