Bottle. Pours dark copper with a thin tan head. Aroma of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and winter spices. Flavor was toasted malts, cinnamon, caramel, nutmeg, a touch of orange and xmas spices with a slightly bitter finish.

Bottle pour. Ruby brown color - moderate head. Taste is strong spice - like Pumking’s cousin...

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2012. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of malt, fruit, and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, orange peel, brown sugar, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; with a great sweetness/spice balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced Christmas ale! Great balance and complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Patrickctenchi (3815) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - MAR 18, 2013
Pours deep reddish-brown with a short, yellow-tan head. Aroma is cola, gingerbread, cinnamon. Taste is peppery, spiced bread/cake, nutmeg... Leaves no doubt as to which holiday it represents... Very tasty..though a trifle over the top.

Kobal (64) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAR 17, 2013
Pours a lovely deep red amber and smells of classic Christmas spices with a touch of black pepper spicing things up. Taste is a very dry cinnamon with clove. Hop character is much stronger than many brewers’ Christmas styles, overpowering the traditional spices. This may appeal to some drinkers, but for me it took away from the beer as a whole.

jsquire (3505) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Clear copper color with a short lived khaki colored head. Nose of some cinnamon, nutmeg and Vic’s Vaporub. Very spicey holiday ale with lots of cinnamon, spice, caramel and brown sugar. Some odd medicinal sense in the background. Dusty spice finish. It drinks easier than 8%. This is a big, spicey winter seasonal.

This smells like fricken X-mas tree but watered down. Disappointed in the minimal head but has a bright copper color like a penny in sunshine. Tastes is spruce with a tad of x-mas spices and black licorice. Palate is good but a bit watery. Thanks ,Beer went down in the time it took me to write this.

Bronze, ring of foam. Smells like cinnamon , licorice, and pine. Flavor is spruce, some licorice, and some other subtle spices in the background. Tasty, if a bit on the heavy side.

Bottled. Poured a nice shade of reddish-amber with a short darker beige head. The aroma picked up a lot of warm, wintery spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla came to mind) with sweet figs and biscuity malts supporting.. warm and welcoming. The flavor found tangy, peppery spices and orange peel on the tip of the tongue, with figs, molasses, and caramel following.. cinnamon and nutmeg around.. finished with warm spices, figs, and molasses on the finish. Medium-bodied, warm, and spicy on the palate.. this was tasty stuff.

keanex (1478) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - FEB 17, 2013
Bottled on October 10, 2012.
Appearance: The body is a slightly hazy mahogany with a thin tan head with poor retention. The head settles into a thin coating and a dense ring.
Aroma:The aroma is heavy on the spices, ginger, nutmeg, allspice with a slight vanilla, cherries and graham cracker. It reminds me a bit of Pumking.
Taste: This is much more balanced than the nose indicates, it’s actually pretty great. The body is very malty with cinnamon and fruity notes, it reminds me a bit of applesauce. The spices are subdued but present. This is a nice fruity spiced beer.
Palate: Thick bodied with a slightly oily texture, light carbonation.
Overall: This is actually a worthwhile spiced beer. I can’t think of any complaints, I’ll likely pick up a 6 pack next year.
