3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated based on notes taken on 26 Dec 2014 -- Sample poured from the bottle. A very well spiced winter ale, but other than that a little unremarkable.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from bottle into a tulip glass l. Light brown with hints of red with a thick brownish head. Smells spicy. And a little malty. Taste is a punch of spices: cinnamon, Christmas like stuff. Get a bit of citrus but it’s light. Not sweet. Thin mouth feel. Sharp carbonation. Just feels overly spiced.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark mahogany with a small white head. Aroma is lots of spices and some caramel. Flavor is sweet fig and spices. The spices are heavy, but don’t overpower the beer. This is very well done and tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from market street. Pours a reddish brown color with a thin white head. The aromas are bergamot, fig, cinnamon. The mouthfeel is watery, sweet and had a medium body with good carbonation. Cheers!

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Reddish brown pour with a very small head. Aroma is a spice bomb. All spice, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Tastes like a sweet spice bomb. Burnt sugar and spices dominate. Some light toffee too. Medium body. Overall, too sweet and too much spice but it’s not terrible.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Clear dark amber color with a modest white head that dissipated quickly. The aroma is all spice - nutmeg, cardamom, ginger?, who knows? The tastes is also heavy on the spices upfront, after that subsides you can detect a definite fig and malt background but it is overwhelmed by the spices. This one is actually better warm as the background tastes come out a little more. Light/medium bodied. Overall, not a style I’m fond of but a lighter touch on the spices would make this more palatable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours Amber with a thin wispy off-white head. Ginger, allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon aromas. This is a big spice bomb that is heavy on the ginger. There is some earthiness in the finish and a hint of cinnamon. The mouthfeel is malty with moderate carbonation. Medium to full body with a little warming alcohol. It took me a while to get used the the spiciness, but the flavor improved as it warmed.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Yardhouse.
Deep red-brown with a head that soon reduced to a ring. Minimal lacing.
Both the aroma and the flavor reflect a heavy use of nutmeg. There are some other spices in here too, but the overall spicing level is just too high, largely masking the malts.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a ruby red with about a finger of white head. Nose is of Christmas candles and spice, tast is heavily spiced in a nutmeg allspice kinda way, with a hint of pine, cinnamon maybe Very enjoyable brew. I could see this dropping some folks ratings, if you don’t like nutmeg, skip this one.
