A very nice offering for the holidays from Southern Tier. Medium Amber color, aroma of holiday spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg very apparent on the tongue.

12 oz bottle, Whole Foods Columbus. Clear deep red, almost purple; begins with a medium beige almost-fizzy head that dissipates into absolutely nothing. Aroma is strong and reveals the 8% alcohol and then some; big and sweet, malt, bread, toffee, spicy clove and/or nutmeg. Flavor is a bit less discernible but a great example of a strong ale with spices; bread, nuts, caramel, raisin or cherry. Medium mouthfeel and a tiny bit low on the carbonation but I’ve left this out breathing for a while and it’s not out of place for the style. Needs work on the head, but in terms of aroma and flavor, THIS is Christmas beer.

Pours reddish amber with 1 finger of foam that fades quickly. Smells of clove and nutmeg. Roasted caramel with spices, finishes crisp with alcohol.

12 oz. bottle via trade with DrSilverworm - Pours a clear mahogany color with a one finger thick light tan head. Beautiful, bright color! Light lacing. Aroma is big Christmas spices and light toasted malt. Flavor is the same but toned down a notch. the malt lingers in the finish. Medium body. This ain’t to0 bad for a XMAS beer. Thanks Chris.

On tap at the Dutch. If this is Glögg...shouldn’t it be served steeped? Yes there was some spicyness but it seemed a DIPA light in body and moderately hopped. I think the Glögg that was prepared by the Swedish exchange students when I was in college was spot on. This is just another cow in a field full of cows trying to be a water buffalo.

Too much going on. Not a subtle beer at all. Nice dark pour, with a good smell but the taste leaves much to be desired. Taste produces peppermint? licorice? Not a Christmas style ale I am accustomed too. Reminds me of the Fantome Noel produced around 2005 or so.

12oz bottle from Kalamazoo Megabev. Deep amber brown pour with a half inch of offwhite/orange head. Pine, clove, cinnamon and citrus zest aroma, a little yeast-y. Taste is no surprise but strong. Tart clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, anise and kind of has a Jagermeister quality. Tartness and warmth is certainly supplied by ABV and malt. Mouth feel is slightly chalky, soft carbonation too. Finish is cleaner than expected and left a doughy feel and a spicy taste. Resemblance to Glogg is present but not that strong.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours a great deep ruby shade with 1-finger khaki head. Nose is heavy spice, hops. Tastes rich, very smooth, with a big spicy semi-sweetness, hops, malt, and well hidden alcohol that makes this one a great holiday Winter Warmer.

Bright, clear amber hued body. Doughy malt character with notes of sweet caramel and toast. Heavy doses of spice and a touch of ginger. A medicinal herb quality.

Bottle shared by Blipp at my house. Pours dark amber with an off white head. Nose/taste of spiced fig, cinnamon, nutmeg, malt and orange peel. Medium body.
