UPDATED: DEC 17, 2012 Pours a nice deep red color with a large tan head that quickly fades into a small ring. Not much head retention or lacing, but the palate is just thick enough to keep it from feeling lifeless. Aroma is perfect for a winter seasonal - cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is those spices at first, and then fades into a nice toasted malt finish. Very nice beer for the holiday season.

Bottle pours a dark red brown fair amount head. Tastes smells of cloves spices ginger small hops sweet candy sugar. Weird it wasn’t bad but same as like Sam Adams ginger bread I’m just not into that spice combo but if you are this would be great right up there with Goose island Christmas.

Bottle. Pours amber with a beige head. Sweet malts, ginger and other spices, lighter toasted notes, and light fruity notes. Good stuff.

On tap at Brick Store. Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of cinnamon, nutmeg and other spice with a hint of backing sweet grains. Flavor starts with the spices listed above and a growing note of earthy deep from the grain.

Pours a clear mahogany - not much head, but that has to be due to the pour, and it does leave some generous lacing. Strong aroma has an overtone of cloves and horehound. Flavor has a subtle malty core and strong notes of cloves, caramel and horehound with a hint of cinnamon - and is that a whisper of pumpkin? Firm texture has plenty of lively fizz, leaving a cloves-y and horehound finish. Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Winter Solstice/Festivus/Human Light or whatever!

Tap into 20 oz mug. Brown, nice lingering off white head. Nose of cinnamon and clove, hint of ginger. Very prominent spices in the mouth,a hint of wine sweetness.finishes medium with warm lingering impression off fruit and spice - sure, I’ll say mulled wine impression. A bit of hops. Nice take in the style, although ultimately not sure I really want more than one. After a bit, the alcohol starts to show, and I’m quite sure one is plenty.

12 oz bottle, Whole Foods Columbus. Clear deep red, almost purple; begins with a medium beige almost-fizzy head that dissipates into absolutely nothing. Aroma is strong and reveals the 8% alcohol and then some; big and sweet, malt, bread, toffee, spicy clove and/or nutmeg. Flavor is a bit less discernible but a great example of a strong ale with spices; bread, nuts, caramel, raisin or cherry. Medium mouthfeel and a tiny bit low on the carbonation but I’ve left this out breathing for a while and it’s not out of place for the style. Needs work on the head, but in terms of aroma and flavor, THIS is Christmas beer.

Pours reddish amber with 1 finger of foam that fades quickly. Smells of clove and nutmeg. Roasted caramel with spices, finishes crisp with alcohol.

12 oz. bottle via trade with DrSilverworm - Pours a clear mahogany color with a one finger thick light tan head. Beautiful, bright color! Light lacing. Aroma is big Christmas spices and light toasted malt. Flavor is the same but toned down a notch. the malt lingers in the finish. Medium body. This ain’t to0 bad for a XMAS beer. Thanks Chris.
