3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 glennmastrange (1888) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of cookie and roasted, light to moderate herbs and cooked orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast with raisin, port, nutmeg and cinnamon. Head is small, fizzy, light tan with no lacing but good legs and is almost fully diminishing. Color is clear medium red/brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, between oily and creamy, with a soft to lively carbonation and a sticky finish. Malts dominate the nose, then the hints of spices follow, exceptional balance in flavor and a smooth palate. This is an above average American Strong Ale and an excellent Christmas time beer.
