11/12/12. 12oz bottle from Grassroots. Clear brown/red pour with a small khaki head that fades to a ring and doesn’t lace much. Big sweet, spiced aroma with brown sugar, molasses, and brown sugar... it reminds me of cookies or cake or something. Sweet, spiced flavor as well, again with fruitiness, but mostly spice... again reminding me of cake or something. I’m torn. This is a little weird and a bit too "holiday" for me, and yet, I’m kinda digging it. Not bad!

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour, tight off-white head that hangs around a while. Interesting spicy aroma with hints of Christmas spices, Carbona carpet cleaner, and nutmeg. Flavor has a spicy tinge to it with some nutmeg, some candy-like citrus flavoring, some cranberry sauce notes, some licorice like accents. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky. Turns slightly cloying near the end - 12 oz was enough.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (4451) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Pours a deep amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma has a ton of winter spices- juniper, nutmeg, allspice- tons of spice on top of caramel malts, toast, and nuts. Flavor is the same. Some faint berry notes, too. Medium-bodied, with a spicy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I liked the spice but understand that others may not. Maybe it was also enhanced by drinking it fresh, in the winter, and at the source. Good beer.
