12oz bottle. Pours a deep garnet red with virtually no head. Aroma is majorly spiced - which I suppose I should have expected from the 2x label. Cloves and other holiday spices dominate. There is some sweet malt as well. Flavors are also dominated by the spices - especially in the finish and the lingering aftertaste. It seems to fit the style and the goal of the beer, but not really my style or preference for a holiday brew.

Pours deep reddish-brown with a short, yellow-tan head. Aroma is cola, gingerbread, cinnamon. Taste is peppery, spiced bread/cake, nutmeg... Leaves no doubt as to which holiday it represents... Very tasty..though a trifle over the top.

On tap at Craftsman, pours a clear reddish amber with no head, a lot of spices on the nose with some sweetness of the malt, flavor has a lot of spice on the front end, too much for my liking, tastes like liquid popori, ugh.

Shared a 12 ounce bottle in the Alaskan wilderness. Notes of spiced cake, citrus, cinnamon, fruity, spruce. This is a good beer.

ROGUE (1566) - Newark, Delaware, USA - DEC 27, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby reddish brown color with a one finger cream head. Heavy scents of spices, malted barley, dried fruit, and booze. Taste is heavy on the spices with cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. A very malty backbone with some hop bitterness too. Very boozy finish and aftertaste. The body was light and creamy with mild carbonation and a slick finish.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2012. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of malt, fruit, and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, orange peel, brown sugar, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; with a great sweetness/spice balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced Christmas ale! Great balance and complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

ryanfolty (1457) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 6, 2012
December 6, 2012 bottle from coffee grounds. Clear copper pour with little bit of head that faded quickly. Aroma was spicy, malty, grainy and some alcohol. Taste was a disappointment, grainy, some cinnamon and nutmeg, but kind of a weird spicy bitter and dry alcohol finish. I love christmas and all, but would be okay not seeing this under the tree on the big day.

Draft. Pours a clear dark amber/burnt orange with minimal head. Aroma smells exactly like the glogg my 98-year old great grandma makes. Cinnamon, spice and fruit. Taste is light sweet. Cinnamon and christmas spuce with a good bit of wheat and bready yeast. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, great. I need to get this in a bottle to let my grandma try
