This was a very enjoyable Christmas spice beer, which is not a style I’m a huge fan of but I found this one quite nice.

Tastes like christmas spices and all that. Not really my thing. Cookies? Maybe.

On tap at the Dutch. If this is Glögg...shouldn’t it be served steeped? Yes there was some spicyness but it seemed a DIPA light in body and moderately hopped. I think the Glögg that was prepared by the Swedish exchange students when I was in college was spot on. This is just another cow in a field full of cows trying to be a water buffalo.

Lots of spice. Lots of sweet. Ginger, nutmeg, clove, candy sugar, alcohol, and candied fruit. A bit much, but that is what 2XMas is for, I suppose. Share this one.

From a 12 oz bottle. Pours a fairly clear cola with an off white head. Aroma of cloves, cinnamon and orange. Hints of toffee and raisin. Warming and slightly bitter finish.

Bottle thanks to motortoddhead. Brown with deep red hues. Pleasant nose of spice and fruit with light caramel. Flavor is sweet dark fruit, slightly tart, with orange zest and cinnamon spice to clear the palate. Nice even flavor, but a tad sweet and syrupy. Lingering spice and fruit cake.

Pours a deep clear amber with an initially fuul light tan head, but being large bead carbonation, the head quickly dissipates. Aroma is hop flowers, cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is predominantely sweet caramel malt along with the same spices and a bit of hop bitterness. Far from outstanding, but a good seasonal ale nonetheless.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Pours dark crimson with medium off-white head. Nice thin small bubble lacing, medium body, and nice cardamom aroma. Taste is big cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, some orange peel, balancing herbal hop background, some dark fruit (hint of fig), and a hint of alcohol. Too much cardamom and I would prefer the alcohol to be completely covered.

Bottle. Clear, copper color with no head. Strong spice aroma that is approaching cough syrup. Medium body, a little syrupy, moderate finish. Interesting Xmas beer, but not a favorite.

Nephilium (1150) - Ohio, USA - NOV 15, 2012
The aroma is dark fruit and spice, pours a clear red with a full off-white head. The flavor of fig comes through, with a slightly spicy finish. The 8% alcohol is well hidden. There’s a bit of slickness in the mouthfeel. This is an easy drinking Christmas beer, which just expands the options this time of year.
